Events Extreme Benchrest 9.5 – Lockdown Edition

Could only take the target to the limit of my yard which is a little over 60 yards. Thanks to AOA, Airgun Nation and everyone else involved who sponsored EBR 9.5 for letting those of us that typically couldn’t compete have the opportunity to at least enjoy in the fun. I gave myself a score of 212 and now I have a much better appreciation of those competitors during the non COVID competitions.

This was a new adventure for team Ashland. And the first for three of our shooters Randy, Eric and my self Jacob.

This was so much fun!!!

And wow that Jefferson State .30 is amazing.

Thank you for hosting this event in such weird times.

Hey Airgun nation!

This was my first benchrest event of any kind and this lockdown event really help me learn what I need to do for shooting any type of long-range. It was really eye opening and truly a ton of fun and I throughly enjoyed it.

I shot my cards with a recently acquired FX crown continuum in .25 shoot 34 gr king heavy's. I'm really enjoying the gun and it's my first high end pcp so I really love how well it shot. But anyways It was about 50 degrees with a 5 to 7 mph crosswind about 50 yards down range so I wasn't sure how I would do.

The first card was at 75 and the last card was at 100. I didn't use any sighters and I think I did pretty good given the wind conditions. I was planning to go to extreme benchrest rest this past October before covid hit but I think this is good. I get a chance to see what I can improve on so I can come swinging next year.

Huge thanks from me for hosting the event. Hope to go in person next year!

I was only able to get out to 50 yards for both cards.

Used a new .22 Umarex Gauntlet that I just recently started shooting, topped with a Discovery Optics VT-T 6-24x50 SFVF.

Started the day figuring out which pellet my Gauntlet liked for 50 yards and decided on the JSB 15.89s with 4 shots going into the same hole and the 5th(always that last shot!) going a smidge to the right

Unfortunately for me by the time I started shooting the cards, it was already getting dark super quick.

My 1st card I shot a 242 with 5 X's.

I then rushed as fast as possible to get my last card completed as it was getting too dark to see. Still managed a 232 with 4 X's

Overall I had a ton of fun and thank everyone who was able to make this happen for similar folks who would never have a chance at making it to the real deal. I wish I had learned about this sooner as maybe I would've been able to practice a bit and put a real effort into competing. But fun is fun and it seems like 9.5 Lockdown Edition has offered a great service to many of us that needed this break from everything that's going on in the world!

Well finally shot my cards last weekend...that's the good news...

In the spirit of EBR, I decided not to cherry pick weather conditions. Instead, I chose a day and said I would shoot regardless of the weather conditions. What a stupid idea! 😕

The wind was 5-7 mph and swirling and there was dense freezing fog. I could barely see my 75 yard target but shot it anyways (shot a 218 w/ 2x). I moved the target out to 100 and literally started laughing out loud! I could tell there was a piece of cardboard out there but that was about it. After waiting for about an hour for the weather to lift, I decided to shoot the card (shot a 208 w/ 1x).

On the bright side, I was out shooting and that's what it's all about. Thanks AOA for hosting the lockdown edition this year. I look forward to EBR next year!.

OK, Here's my cards. I had to shoot 2 lines at a time to keep them on my mini log and dirt backstop (with my sighter target mounted to the side). Gun Impact MK2 with Power Plenum in 30 cal, JSB 44 gr, Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 MOA scope. I was limited to 85 yards on my second card due to the size of my yard and COVID-19 restrictions. Score: 75 yards: 232 2x, 85 yards 229 4x. Good weather conditions the calm before a winter storm hits NE Ohio. With the 2 lines at a time, I forgot the pellet challenge - oh well next time.

A Big Thank You to Airguns of Arizona for hosting this fun event!
