Heck yeah Gene,

We are real close to Exit 11 as you come down the mountain from the CA border... easy peasy..

We closed the BnB, but if you google map "Oak Haven BnB, Ashland OR." you can see our ranch & AAFTA FT courses along the freeway on the west side of I-5. That's where this years 2021 Oregon State Field Target Championships & AAFTA Grand Prix event will be on July 16th 17th and 18th.

The Extreme BR and FT matches will be about 5 miles away at the Ashland Gun Club on Emigrant creek road.

Hi Mike,

The range safety officer at the Ashland Gun Club won't let us shoot slugs on the air rifle range. That would have to be on the firearms range and it's too crowded for us to have a match there. We are limited to diablo style pellets of no more than .30 cal at 80fpe.

We'll have two classes: Pellets up to .22 cal @ up to 40fpe and Pellets up to .30 cal @ 80fpe. The EFT and EBR will both have those classes and limits of Pellets only.

We plan to shoot the Field Target on Saturday morning starting at 9am which should allow the Bench Rest to start about 11am. Sunday we could do another round of rifle field target, or if enough are interested, we could have a pistol field target match as part of the combined total score for overall grand prize. How many of you out there have a 20fpe or so pistol and would like to shoot a course out to 50 yards or so?.. or would you prefer two days of rifle EFT to make the combined score champion.

Thanks Wayne... I certainly don't recommend having "pistol" FT count towards the overall score, since not many shoot "pistol" that also shoot Extreme FT and Extreme BR.

So Saturday EFT in AM and 75 yard EBR in PM, then Sunday EFT in AM and 100 yard EBR in PM? I think that is what your original post had said. I can speak for the four Team Centercut shooters that will attend that we prefer two days of Rifle EFT for combined score champion.

FYI, there is only one class at EBR and RMAC for the 75/100 yard competition. Why complicate things with the 40 FPE class? I recommend only one class for both EBR and EFT. It keeps things simple, easily accountable, and its the general way these competitions have been run.... Also, if we're hard over on two classes, why 40 FPE? Generally Open 25M BR is limited to 35 FPE. Might as well stick with that convention for EFT and EBR if that is the decision to have two classes... The recent EFT at Ranchito Robinson in TX had a 35 FPE and a 100 FPE class.

From OP

"The Extreme Field Target matches will start at 8:30am on Saturday and Sunday Mornings. Then we’ll shoot the same EBR targets that AoA and Utah Air Guns are shooting at 75 yards on Saturday and 100 yards on Sunday starting at 11:00 am. This way the field target folks get the low wind mornings and none of the relays of Bench Rest get a real low wind situation. The distances won’t be posted on the EFT targets, but range finders will be allowed. Targets will be a few knock down re-settable, but mostly spinners and bell targets ranging from 1 ½” to 5” set from 25 to 100 yards."

PS, I'd like to know before making plans if it is decided that Sunday AM will be Pistol FT vice the EFT as originally stated. Its a two day drive for me so it affects my decision whether or not to attend...

I'm getting feedback that Saturday morning be EFT and Sunday morning be a Speed Silhouette match... How's that idea?

The rules for EFT and EBR have been molding themselves as the Equipment and game evolves. It would be great if the sponsors and hosting clubs could get together and work out rules and a grand prix type thing. But until then I'm trying to follow the trend within the confines of our range. It seems to me .22cal at 35fpe (that's seem fine for a breaking point), and .30cal at 80 or even 100fpe like the Texas event allowed and separated, really should not be competing with each other on the same targets and distances. I could see a 35fpe shooter having the highest scores, but that would most likely be because of their wind reading skills overcame the advantages of 80fpe with .30 cal. And high power.30 cal has been introduced at past EFT and EBR, do we exclude it now and as one competitors suggests by limiting power to 50fpe and having one class. That's assuming you need to shoot a 44 grain 30. cal at least 890fps or so to get best results... where most folks think diablo pellets stabilize best. 50fpe works well with 25 cal 25 grain or even 33 grain. Maybe there is a 30 cal pellet in the 25 to 33 grain that could do well at 50fpe, I don't know. What do you all think?

It's certainly easier to have one class, for the match director. Harder scoring, more awards/prizes with two classes, but it only seems fair to me if we want to include up to 80 or 100fpe... and it seems like that are a lot of folks with that kind of equipment wanting to play too.

More Feedback if you desire..

  2. All General Range Rules apply to use of this range.*
  3. All Fundamental Gun Handling Rules apply to the use of this range.*
  4. A thorough Safety Briefing will be conducted prior to any organized live fire events.*
  5. This range was specifically designed to facilitate air gun shooting activities. No Firearms are authorized on this range. In addition to the rules mentioned above, the following Site-Specific rules apply to this range:

    • Verification that the competitor has attended and passed the firearm and air gun safety courses.
    • All shooters are required to remain behind the established shooting line. Only range officers are allowed to call a “cold line” and manage competitors retrieving their targets for scoring.
    • Never load a weapon until it is pointed downrange and you are ready to shoot at the target. Never remove a loaded weapon off the shooting bench or point the weapon any direction except down range at the target.
    • Shooters are required to only shoot at the established targets. No random shooting is allowed at any time.
    • All targets are to be designed to collect the pellets, either by pellet absorbing materials like soft wood or angled metal pellet traps.
    • Shooters CANNOT shoot at their own targets UNLESS they are preapproved by the Range Safety Officer.
    • Any and All viewing non shooters will remain at least 8’ behind the shooters line and will remain silent during the competitions.
    • NO ONE is allowed on the shooting line during a “Cold Line” until the Range Safety Officer has given the “All Clear Downrange” call out.

    • During a competition, Shooters are required to have all their air supply tanks, pellets, and supplies with them before the match starts and are not allowed to leave their bench during a competition. Remain at your bench when you finish your card, and remain silent while others finish their cards, or until the RSO calls “Time is up”.
    • Quickly remove all your equipment after your relay to the spectator’s area or your vehicle.
    • During practice times shooters are allowed to go back and forth to the spectator’s area but only one person at a time is allowed on a shooting platform bench area, unless the second person is a RSO trainer instructing a student.
    • On Competition days competitors are allowed 10 min parking close to the shooting benches for unloading and loading equipment, but this area is limited to 5 vehicles at a time, so please be courteous and wait your turn if we have lots of traffic. If possible just park across the main drive by the picnic tables/waiting area and carry your equipment to the shooting line when your relay is called out.
    • At all times be courteous to everyone. Aggressive behavior will get you disqualified, removed and banned from the area permanently.
    • During practice days, if all benches are full, then limit your time on your bench to 1 hour at a time to allow everyone a chance on the line.
    • Do not attempt to “Police” others, but do relate your concerns about unsafe or uncourteous behavior to the RSO as soon as possible. You may ask a polite question like: “Maybe we should ask the RSO if that way of doing things is alright?”
    • Please use the recycle and trash bins and pickup any trash you may come across.
    • Double check that you have collected all your trash and equipment before you leave the area.

I have read and agree to obey all the rules above and hold harmless Airgun Oregon and the Ashland Gun and Archery Club for any and all liabilities.
