Extreme field target- caliber???

No events anywhere near me & unlikely there will be any time soon, so these are asked purely out of curiosity.

Is there a particular caliber/pellet to which folks are gravitating, or that seems to dominate the leader board?

Most shoot .177 in "regular" field target, to keep trajectory flat & minimize splits, though .20 & .22 are allowed. Same situation with .22 or .25 vs .30? Or do the heavyweight .30 pellets buck the wind well enough to be worth the larger diameter?

Again, just curious- no dog in the fight.

Thanks for humoring me :D

Thanks Mike. Curiosity got the better of me, like when you remember that old song but can't remember the artist, & it bugs you until you look it up.

Pretty much what I had assumed regarding which pellets in each caliber; MRD only in .22, heavily skewed to the MK1 or MK2 heavies in .25, and either/or in .30. Mostly curious as to caliber choice. Can see why the .25 heavies would be popular & hard to beat. Best bc & a good bit cheaper to stock & shoot regularly vs. anything in .30.

You shoot the DW in Utah?

Yes, the DW shooting .30 caliber 50.1 grain at about 870 fps. It was pretty windy when our group shot. There was one target with a 2” KZ at 104 yards and I got it 3 out of 4 shots. A little luck there guessing the hold off…. The DW shot flawlessly.
