Saturday May 28th. Prematch meeting @ 730pm, match starts @ 8pm.

6-8 lanes, 4 shots per lane.

Targets and walking path will be illuminated. Illuminated reticles have not been needed during testing. The only light shooters might want is a headlamp or small flashlight for managing their gear, getting pellets loaded the right direction, etc.- essentially light in the shooters immediate vicinity. Shooters may have the option of shooting through again, depending on total # of shooters and interest in doing so. $25 match fee paid at match site. Cash only please. Email Ben at [email protected] with any questions.

Shooting field target at night is a completely different experience. Very cool to see the lead dust erupt from the paddle in the scope image. The clarity on the targets when illuminated/at night is indescribable. I've had the opportunity to shoot field targets at night a couple times and it is somehow even more fun than in the daylight. And the best part.....no hot sun beating down on you!!!

My Prophet is still having an unresolved issue so I cannot use it at the night match tonight as I had hoped - I need to take it back in to AoA. I contacted Ben and he kindly offered that I could pair up with him at the meet and shoot his Redwolf. He also invited me out to the range last night to practice a bit with his gun as he was heading to PRGC to check his dope.

He set up the led lights he will be using tonight on paper targets at 50 to 100 in 10 yard increments yards on the rifle smallbore range so I got a chance to see how well they illuminate - the lighting works very well, so I didn’t have any problem seeing the reticle. I think out on actual xft range the lighting will probably make target acquisition much easier than at a daytime meet. We met at the range at about 6:30 pm, the temperature was about a 103, but with the relative humidity in the single digits once the sun isn’t hitting you it feels very comfortable here in the Phoenix desert, as we say its a “dry heat.” The winds were fairly light initially, around 3-10, but later in the evening around 9 pm they increased by maybe another 5 -10 mph, with a few very strong gusts. Tonight I see the forecast is for winds at 13, and I would expect some occasional strong gusts. Anyway…as XSUltimate said above, it should be a “hoot”.

Lighted paper targets at 50-100 yds.

A 6 shot group at 90 yds I shot with Ben’s Redwolf. Wind pushed one a bit, but 5 on right were a .75 group. His gun is a tackdriver.
