Fake CZ barrel? You tell me!

So, I was vacillating with selling the Veteran. As part of the process, I sent pictures out to a prospective buyer. He tells me that ALL real CZ barrels are round where they meet the action, with 3 little dots (or something like that) and not flat like mine. Now, I may sell it, I may not. But if I sell it, I want to be sure of what I’m selling. Personally, I don’t care, the thing will thread 75 shots on a single fill at 30 yards into less than 1/2 inch.

The research I did shows the following. So, if you have knowledge of this please chime in. Many thanks.

Mine are Mutants but I would assume the barrels are the same since they moved away from Listone barrels.
2 are Standards and both have the 3 dots on top (mild depressions starting about an inch from the action)
1 of those is wearing a .177 BSA barrel and it also has the same ‘dots’

2 are Shorties, Neither have the ‘dots’ and I assume with the shorter barrrel, the barrels were shortened by cutting/milling at the action end (removing the ‘dots’) to maintain the choke and the muzzle.

Can I prove this... No, not that they are genuine but I can send you pics if it will help.

To state that something like a barrel (that invariably needs machining at the breech end to get it to the required length and to fit various actions) is fake because it doesn't have some random rounded edge and dots in that region is idiocy of the highest order.

I wouldn't sell it to that bloke whatever happens. The second something doesn't meet expectations you'll be getting a call about the 'fake barrel'...

Correction, my .177 barrel in the Mutant is not BSA, its for an AA S200 which is the same thing as the CZ200. So its a CZ barrel and is identical (other than caliber) to the .22 barrel in the .22 Standard. Maybe length differs a bit but I used the S200 barrel full length minus an eighth on the action end to get the TP to line up.

Pictures will take some time. Could you share a pic of where the barrel meets the action on yours?

Is the barrel in question stock and on a standard... or shorty? The Listone barrels on the shorty were about 10.5” and ended within the forward mount. Even the mod/shroud mounted differently. Not sure about the standard., They were still awesome barrels for the most part but not popular... The CZ name made the guns more mainstream in my opinion.

Hi guys, I'm the "bloke with idiocy of the highest order" as Macros so eloquently put it. To clarify, I never called it a "fake cz" barrel, I said I did not think it was, but that I was not an expert by any means and could be wrong. I had seen pictures of CZ barrels back when Mutants came out and compared to other stock photos I could find of Veteran Shorty .22's

Here is an actual pic of the gun and barrel in question - A Taipan Veteran .22 Shorty. I had not seen the flat machining marks on .22 barrels on the Veteran shorty before. I had seen them on the .25 though.

I too would like clarification. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Here's a stock photo of a CZ barrel with the 3 dots I was referring to, and yes I'm aware its a Mutant and not a Veteran

Just to make sure we are straight. My intentions here are to learn, ergo did not feel the need to identify you. The pictures you posted are of Apples & Oranges. Look at the pictures I posted, the Mutant has the barrel you described, the Veteran has the barrel like mine does, which is.....yup, a Veteran. You pair that with it’s performance and you are about guaranteed that is a genuine barrel.

I have a Taipan Veteran shorty in .22, I can't comprehend why any manufacturer would use fake barrels, as it would terminate their brand. My shorty was purchased in June 2017 and it has the same "notches" as in OP photos. Out of box it shot JSB 18.13 gr at 885 fps and accuracy was very good! At the advice of another air gunner, I tuned it down to 825 fps and now it shoots very, very good! An added bonus is that I can now fill to 220 bar and get more shots, use less air, less wear and tear on the gun's internal parts and better accuracy; than filling to 250 bar and shooting at 885 fps. This gun is used for birds and small game as a hunting gun, the minimal loss of fpe with this tune doesn't affect performance when hunting.

I completely understood your intentions and you seem like a very straightforward and honest guy. I know you were not trying to pull one over on me or anyone else. I replied and identified myself because I wanted to show why I thought what I thought.

I too wanted to learn for clarity and hopefully this cleared up and answers questions somebody else out there may have had.

My apologies for putting any doubts in your mind.

I had 2 taipan veteran long .. from the very first batch of longs .tony bring to US .. both of mine had the flat spot on the breach end ..the ones with the 💎 chape logo are ALL .. CZ .. second batch that came later that the block is only marked CZ those came with LW and CZ.. I don't know there is a way to know what is the lottery barrel you got..only talon tunes could answer that.. the one that intenseaty.22 has for sale. Is a gun to purchase flat out without any drama..there is nothing in the market that awesome for the price..
