Falcon and Brocock

If a pistol is placed in a rifle stock and is meant to be fired from the shoulder, it's a rifle. You can call it a carbine too, which is a generally accepted term for a rifle with a barrel that is shorter than most rifles (usually around 14" to 16" inches). However, If you need a new term to describe a pistol that is made into a shoulder fired airgun, how about a SBAR (short barreled air-rifle)? There. New definition created. Henceforce all pistols that have shoulder stocks shall be know as an SBAR (with short barrels of course).

Although attempting to assign labels can be pretty easy, sometimes not. But I agree with you John; a sure-fire, inarguable difference is any kind of rifle has a shoulder-stock, and any kind of pistol doesn't. Examples-

Man, am I glad we've finally put this debate to bed once and for all!;)

Not to boast, because everyone knows I'm incapable of doing anything THAT SHALLOW :ROFLMAO:. But having just processed the last photo I needed to BRAG about my Brocock Bantam Hi-Lites, including the one-of-a-kind RonCo BroCo variant, I present EYE CANDY!

My beloved .22 Brocaock Bantam Hi-Lite is a fantastic, tack-driving carbine sometimes called a 'semi-bullpup'.

Unfortunately... on second thought, maybe not unfortunately, my .177 version wasn't accurate enough for my intended purpose for it; Hunter Rifle class field target competition. So I butchered it into a FANTASTIC Extreme Field Target pistol that is more accurate than it's previous rifle self.

Utterly smitten with the (more accurate) pistol, at some point it occurred to me adding a shoulder stock to the 19.5 foot-pound .177 Extreme Field Target pistol might make it a viable Hunter Class rifle. So I robbed the stock off the .22 rifle above to produce this... ummm... errrr... whatever you want to call it. I call it Cute!
