Tuning Favorite Leshiy 177 Tunes???

Looking for some help with tunes. I’m struggling with my chrony indoors and having a hard time getting a starting point.

Current set up is a Huma reg and 177 with 350 mm barrel. I’m shooting 10.34 gr JSB and have 8.4’s on the way. I haven’t settled yet where I want this gun to be as far as speed and shot count.

So hoping you guys wouldn’t mind sharing what you settled on....

Thank you!

I have the same setup as you do. For the most part my gun and barrel are not that pellet picky.

10.34 gn AA and JSB shoot well (1/2" to 5/8") at 50 yds 880 to 900 FPS reg set at 110 bar (25 t0 27 shots from a 250 fill)

10.65 gn H&N Baracuda (5/8" to 3/4") at 50 yds 890 FPS reg at 110 bar (same as above)

8.4 gn AA, JSB (1/2" to 5/8") at 50 yds 915 to 930 FPS reg at 100 bar (35 to 37 shot from a 250 bar fill)

All these pellets are 4.52 head size and zeroed at 28 yds

Your milage may very.

Clark as I recall I had my Huma at 100 bar for my 177/250 barrel. I did pick up at 177/350 barrel but haven't tried it yet. Moved this fall and can't find my tuning notes and haven't had much time to shoot.

What I liked about my tune at the time was that just by changing from the 177/250 barrel and the 22/350 barrel it was like two totally different guns. Just below the point of being twitchy in 22/350 but then a soft shooting plinker for my boys in 177/250. With the shouldering effect from transfer port to 177 barrel there are pretty significant changes in power when switching between 177 and any of the larger calibers.

In fact I started my tune in 22/350 using the chart below. I believe you have or had a 22/350 barrel so maybe this chart will help. If you still have that barrel you could try some of these tunes in 22/350 and see if there is one that takes you to the edge of your comfort zone. Then swap in the 177/350 barrel and see how it shoots, shot count, etc.

You'd probably need the chronograph working to tune the HST at the caliber change. I did. However, maybe it wouldn't be as big of deal when switching calibers but not length. The good news is that once figured out the HST clicks have been repeatable, at least for me.

I should note that I don't have a reg tester and the bar settings on my Huma sticker didn't quite match up to the results in the chart below. But I still found the chart useful as a starting point in tuning.

I know this isn't what you asked for but I wanted to mention it since I recall you having that 22 barrel. Maybe it will help, or at least give you a starting point. To me it made sense to start tuning in the larger caliber and work my way backwards.

I believe this chart was created by Jack.K.

I’m assuming the hammer spring tension is consistent with all Leshiys.

I'm not sure how consistent HST clicks are from Leshiy to Leshiy. Shortly after I got mine I put the sub-12 hammer spring in. At that point I wasn't aware of the chart so I never got to make that comparison.

Still, I'd try one of the tunes from the above chart if you still have the 22/350 barrel or try Ihandy's reg & HST setting & see how you like it.

Clark;

For the H@N 10.65 9 clicks out

AA, JSB 10.3 8 clicks out

AA. JSB 8.4 6 clicks out

This was during the summer in 90* weather

1200 ft elevation

The group sizes were shot from a bench with a bi pod and rear bag. The wind was dead calm. I've been shooting the H&N pellets only because the AA and JSB's have been hard to find. I have since stocked back up on the JSB 8.4 pellets. Which I like best for there flat trajectory and soft shooting recoil. Its winter here so temps are in the low 30's now. I'm getting ready to retune my Leshiy with the 8.4's. I let you where the winter tune ends up.
