How do you like to shoot with your kids? At what distance? And at what? Metal? Spinners? Paper? And what is the gun you find best for small ones?
I shoot with the grandsons at 10 -20 yards. We shoot Daisys at used little dixie cups filled with water and small cardboard tubes cut to 2". They like the water splashing out, but the tubes fly the farthest. We also shoot at aluminum cans to see who can get the bb to spin inside the longest.

I have been shooting with my daughters since they were 3 they are now 22 and 17 we started with them sitting with me(on a chair or a bench) , and me helping them hold the the gun and pull the trigger. As they got older we used a tripod with a bag as a front rest (this helped a lot ) till they were able to hold the guns completely by themselves. As for guns we tried a lot: daisy red ryder , daisy 953, and many other box store airguns all except the 953 had subpar triggers. The best gun for them growing up turned out to be a crosman 2240 modified with a red dot sight, paintball ar15 style stock attached to the rear and an airgun moderator on the front (light ,good trigger, and easy to shoot . You can probably get something much nicer threw crosman now like 2300 carbine (custom shop) or even a prod. Good trigger and accurate guns made the shooting outings much more enjoyable for them. As for targets: seltzer can (shaken up) ,balloons and paintball were always a favorite. As for distance start close and work your way out, Build confidence start at 5 to 7 seven yards and move out as they start hitting consistantly. My boys and I shoot from our benches a lot. We have paper targets but they get bored with them quick, so for more excitement we‘ve added metal spinners, 3,4 and 5 inch metal gongs at 120, 135 and 165yds, lego men, clay pigeons, q-tips, paint balls, sugar cubes, a ferris wheel, exploding golf balls, various kinds of splatter burst targets and lots and lots of army men. Sometimes we use Big Blast target caps but they’re kind of a pain compared to other targets. They are fun for long distance. We also have 2 of the ABC 4 in 1 metal cube targets. We play battleship a lot and also shoot KYL targets and dueling trees. Our newest game is at 50 or 75 yards...We shoot one shot each, one after another, three times, closest to the bull wins .50 cents, furthest from the bull owes .50 cents. We play for hours and because both of my boys are great shots, it normally ends up, someone owing someone else like $1. My boys love it because adds a little pressure! Another target they love shooting are flies, a little bait and they’ll land on our 50yd target all day long! The boys really like shooting the gongs at long distance too. It’s really not that hard and shows them what they’re capable of hitting. We just mix things up often and it keeps the boys engaged.

That gun sure brings back some memories for me. One just like it was my first too. You and your daughter are going to have a blast with it. It seems like just yesterday my boys were 5 years old. Hey Stoti, it sure does bring back memories. Even though I never owned one because the Walmart close to the house didn’t stock them. But I always dreamed of having one after watching Ralphie shoot his eye out. Sweet setup you got for you and your boys. I bet they’re the coolest kid in the neighborhood with their zbroia meanwhile other kids are lucky if their parents buy them a Walmart gun. Can’t wait til she’s shooting PCPs with me. I’m thinking 3 more months of shooting and she’ll be ready

Unfortunately my entire family are and have always been SERIOUSLY ANTI GUN. My kids have been kept away from me all these long years specifically because of all my guns and they're all too stupid to know airguns are only toys. FACT!!!

When my wife and I moved in together, I had to get rid of all of my handguns. Not because she was from the left, because she had been held up at gun point twice while in college. Once in her apartment and once at a corner store where she worked. This happened in Eureka Ca. too, not exactly the crime capital of Cali. A small coastal town with hardly any crime back in the late 80’s. She was terrified of handguns! Over time I convinced her that it’s the bad people, not the guns that are the problem. Slowly, I replaced all of my handguns and bought plenty more. She gets it now and knows that if anybody bad brings a gun into my home, they’re going to get smoked by a .45, 12ga or .223.

That sounds like some meth head poop(that happened to your wife). I never knew how bad the homeless and drug problem is in California. Thank God I’ve never been robbed before but I’m always prepared, borderline paranoid. That’s why I have my two dogs, a Belgian Malinois and Pitbull and a security system. They’re trained to rip the poop outta anyone trying to hurt my family. Hopefully, they can take care of any intruder before I have introduce them to Black Betty

I have personally been robbed at gunpoint by 2 masked men years ago. No big deal when it's your time NOTHING will stop your or anybody's death no matter what. It seems like I was supposed to die 6 times already. FOR REAL! So doesn't matter I shoulda been dead a long time ago. So I'm on bonus level now then God gets gutless and sends Covid19. let's see how that goes. No biggie here! Gotta go gotta go you know? Just be happy you gonna be in a way way way better place than alive and suffering SERIOUSLY!

Yeah I am in CA. Eureka, that is a surprise. Glad she understands now. The best way to make it safe against bad people with guns is more good people with guns.

I shoot with my 9 year old grandson from 20-50 yards. Paper targets float his boat at 20 yards and balloons are a favorite at 50. He has a Diana Storm Rider .22 and a Brocock Concept Lite in .25. He likes the weight of the Stormer Rider but I had to cut the stock down to get the length of pull right for him. The Brocock has an adjustable stock but is a little hard to cock with the bolt action. I think they came out with a side lever since my purchase.
