Fear of obsessive-compulsive

Newbie here and just wondering if being obsessive-compulsive is an affliction I will acquire if I spend to much time on AGN? I look at the lists of guns some of you fine folks have, they read like a short novel! :giggle:Seriously, just want to say I appreciate the great information I have been finding and the helpful attitudes of so many of you. A breath of fresh air seldom found on the interweb.

Just because I've owned only somewhere between 600 and 1000 airguns over the last sixty years, and my first book and email address (still) is Manic Compressive, not sure I'm comfortable accepting the possibility I might be airgun obsessed. "I could quit anytime".🤣

The fear is real! Don't get stuck in it, don't spend money on it you can't afford to, and above all, learn from it.

Our hobbies and interests tend to change and evolve as we age throughout our lifetimes. All in all, I consider it an accumulation of wealth and knowledge that is applied to and used in our evolution of life in this current day and age. As a reflection over the past 40 years, just think where industry and technology have come from, gone to, and could probably go to (not just in the airgun world).

We have so many opportunities in our country to follow our whims, I find it fascinating to see what people focus on; air guns, bicycles, airplanes, hand tools. What an interesting time!

Ah,……way back when, we referred to that as GAS —G(ear (or gun) A(acquisition) (S)yndrome. In the same vein was the saying, “My biggest fear is that my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I payed for them, instead of what they’re actually worth

I believe it was Confucius who said, “You’re only an addict when you run out”. I could be wrong tho.

Yeah, spending a lot of time on AGN can get you into some trouble. With me, it's not only the airguns but all the accessories that go along with it. Scopes, bipods, barrels, moderators, stocks, and the list goes on and on.

Also, don't look at any of the AGN pic threads lol.
To late. Why are my home todo list items not getting completed just becuase I'm on AGN, Is there a post here about how to fix that?

Consider that a healthy fear, it can get very bad, very quickly…YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
That said, have fun, there is great support here from similarly suffering peers.
It is called the Rabbit Hole® complex, sadly there are only two ways to ease it, go cold turkey and get rid of all of your air guns or .... buy more stuff.

I have both deslecsia which make it hard to type my responses at times, or do math, and OCD. Compulsive buying, triple checking things. Having to count things several times even if I know I'm right etc...
I have found that tinkering on my existing guns helps in keeping me from buying more. I will buy myself one occasionally. But in more recent times I buy them, fix them. Will shoot them for awhile and then sell them. Or one of my others. I also will buy smaller purchases pellets, tools etc.... instead of a new airgun.

I think most of you don't have my disability. But the majority have a bad case of wantisum.
