February 4 AAFTA style field target match reminder

Friends,

Just a reminder about our inaugural AAFTA style field target rifle match Saturday after next, on February 4, of course weather permitting. It will be a 54 shot rifle match on the same nine-lane course as our regular TEXtreme FT matches with three targets per lane and two shots per target.

I expect to set a course with a Troyer Difficulty factor in the high twenties in order to make the match newbie-friendly, but not so much so that experienced FT shooters can’t enjoy it. And considering the only official wind difficulty multiplier is 1.25, should winds on match day be only average for the Ranchito Robinson venue, suffice to say that would increase the course difficulty into the mid-thirties.

Fun Rifle shooters are welcome to enter the match, as also are pistol shooters using air pistols producing less than 20 foot-pounds muzzle energy. Because I’ll be using some smaller extreme field targets on the course, be aware rifles or pistols producing much less than 15 foot-pounds of energy might lose some points to good paddle hits that don’t take the target down. These are reasons I call this AAFTA style field target.

I’ve recently added several new folks to the TEXtreme email list, some new to airgun competition(s). I hope you folks will come join the fun, as I intend to make these AAFTA style matches fun for new and experienced competitors alike.

Y’all Come,
Ron & Maggyy

Wish you could too, TS. FWIW, some of my larger matches attract folks from almost as far as your trip would be (Cali and Florida).

Would you believe that little dog has kilt several men? No?

Well, would you believe she terrorizes bunnies and kitties?

I see the blood hungry eyes now that you mention it. Hahaha

Friends,

With shooters traveling from afar for my matches, including couples from Arizona and California planning to attend this-coming Saturdays AAFTA style FT match, I would be remiss to not send an update NOW. The weather forecast is not my friend right now.

As of NOW, Ranchito Robinson is under a thick sheet of ice, and forecasts predict that sheet becoming a blanket overnight and tomorrow (Thursday). Temperatures are forecast to not increase enough above freezing until late Thursday to BEGIN making a dent in a thick blanket of ice.

So as of NOW there’s a real possibility I’ll have to cancel Saturday’s match due to non-cooperation by the weather. There’s just no way to set up the FT course on a sheet of ice. I’ll keep y’all posted as soon as there seems to be any changes or updates possible.

Sorry; much as I dwell in my own little world of fantasy and delusion, and no matter how hard I try, I haven’t been able to alter Reality… much… yet. But I’m still working on it.

That reminds me! Having now secured enough field targets, we’ll be using only my two smallest extreme field targets in the AAFTA matches; both of which I’m confident function dependably with paddle hits from 12 foot-pound guns. So WFTF and pistol shooters no longer need worry about losing points to good paddle hits. YEAH!(y)

Told you I’m still working on altering Reality!🥴

Thank You,
Ron & Maggyy

With heavy heart, Ron has decided to cancel the match for Saturday. As we were discussing it, he lost power at his house (along with his internet connection) so he asked me to let everyone know. The match will not be rescheduled, the next AAFTA-style match will be in 3 months. He'll update on next month's match, which will be either Extreme FT or benchrest silhouette on 3/4.

Ron wanted to let everyone know that he is sorry to have to cancel, but as someone who was looking forward to shooting this Saturday, I totally get it. His place is going to be a mudhole for the next few days, and he doesn't need a bunch of people tromping around his property and getting his house all muddy.

So look for details on next month's match, this one is a victim to Texas weather.

Thanks,
Scott
