Picked up an Akela in 177. At the same time I grabbed the tune-up kit. Wondering what you're feeding the gun and how do you like the spring kit.
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
More data for .177 Akela owners who got those great close out deals...
...shot this 200 30-Challenge card with mine today - in "sub-optimal" conditions.
Target: 30-Yard Challenge: 200 14X (10-ring is .125" diameter, center X-dot is 4/100" diameter)
Rifle: Benjamin Akela .177
(2.42" length cut down factory hammer spring)
Ammo: FX 10.3g at 880fps (last chronoed on 10/9/24 - probably slower today due to lower 38F temp)
Huma Mod 30 - just one section
Arken EPL-4 6x24 FFP at 24x
Starting fill pressure 2,300psi on rifle gauge - measured indoors) Weather: 3mph mild breeze - freezing rain @ 38F throughout card
I was itching to shoot despite winter weather. I shot one sighter on this card - see white dot to the right of target pair #2 - then shot 24 straight at the card.
I shot row #1 with a single shot loader from my Remimex Daystar (same rifle as Akela/Cayden/Kratos) - it was taking too long to load and pellets were getting wet as I single loaded, so I ran inside and loaded a couple mags. Used mags to shoot the remaining rows. Final targets were target pair #11.
The rifle is completely stock except the following:
- Removed the baffles and spring from the shroud - left air stripper on end of barrel.
- Added DonnyFL moderator adapter to end of shroud to allow use of Huma Mod30.
- Hammer spring is stock 3.5" factory spring cut to 2.42" in length
Of course, the internals and trigger are polished up to EPG standards
This is unregulated - and I did not change my vertical hold throughout these 25 shots (1 sighter). I've posted Akela shot strings previously on AGN.
I'd have followed with a 30-Masters card, but got tired on the freezing water running down my neck.
