Feld Target shooting coat recommendation?

Thinking about trying open class next year and possibly getting a shooting coat.Coming from HFT i have never worn a shooting coat and have no idea which coat is the best option to get. So basically i am looking for suggestions on which shooting coat to get.Canvas,cordora,leather,hardback or not,,when ordering do they seem to fit properly or do you order the next size up etc? Any and all suggestions would help. Thanks in advance!

I ordered mine from Champions Shooting Supply. They tell you how to find your size, and it's pretty accurate. Just for the safe side, I went up 1 size from recommended, so I could put on a couple of layers underneath, for some of the colder weather FT shoots we have here in the Northeast.

My coat is made of Canvas and leather, weighs a ton, which for me is good. I'm right at home in temperatures 85 degrees +. I put the coat on, and I will not take it off, no matter how hot it gets. I seem to have a very high tolerance for heat and humidity. At the first day of the Nationals this year, I was in the open field the first day, most everyone thought it was brutal, i wasn't even sweating. But that's me, and I'm not the norm.

A coat will definitely help. Creedmoor, Champions Choice, and Champion Shooter supply all have nice coats. I have a leather coat that is great for support but very warm in warm weather. Leather is also heavy. I also have several cotton coats I use for prone and field target in hot weather. All help but you have to decide based on how much you want to spend and how much support you want and how well you think you can handle the weight or warmth of the coat. I think most shooters go with a middle of the road coat like one made of cordura. Pretty good support but not as heavy, hot as leather.
