FFP Scope for FT (Hunter)?

Hi Joh,

I've seen march fx 5-40x56 FFP was used in WFTF with very good success.

But why would you want an FFP scope for hunter FT. I would argue that having SFP scope is better for FT because you can bracket better with different magnification and you take all your shots at maximum allowed 16x anyway.

Find a scope that ranges well at 16x and have nice reticle, either Aztek or Hawke will work.

No advantage but you'll be fine. Just go shoot, have fun & learn ( while maybe finding a face to face deal on a much better ( for FT) scope.

Practice, whatever you are accustomed to will work well.

Practice bracketing. Esp. with the newer FULL size KZ rule at distance, "bracketing" will work very very well in Hunter class.

Really want to range with your scope? ( I want to )

2 choices, spend LARGE, or, buy one of the legendary FT scopes used. An OLD Bushnell 4200 would be great, likely looking at $300-350 tho. Many people actually loved the (HUGE mildot a rabbit could hide behind) Simmons 44mag. NOT the replacement but the 44mag mad in PI I believe. Had one for years and only sold it out of pirry to an RWS48 owner. Brite clear fairly crisp ranged very very well at 12x ( old school eh) and was right at $150 new.

The very first time I asked about a new ( used ) scope one of the fellows took me to His house after the shoot where he had 100+ airgun scopes and He picked out some odd old BSA for a Song that was indeed excellent.

Practice ranging out to 40ish then bracketing out past that, you'll shoot great.

If your near 20fpe your dealing with less than a KZ drop at 55.

Just go shoot! You'll go through a few different rigs no matter what.

Practice in the wind on purpose.

John
