Field Target club in Iowa

I have started the face book group Hawkeye Field Target Association. So far I have five members. One has a gun already and is a shooter. Three have never shot air guns before.
I think it is a great start. I am going to start by posting up introductory videos explaining airguns. There is so much I don’t want to flood the new guys.

I definitely don’t want anyone spending money on something then feeling like they should have waited. I think one video a week for a while and answer all there questions is a start .

Just an update on the club.

I have seven or eight members that have joined the Facebook group. They mostly live in the Cedar Rapids or south east Iowa area.
At this point I am just getting people interested in airgun activity together.

Once we have a group of enthusiasts we can approach a gun club about joining there club and using it for airguns.

Currently most clubs have airgun programs so it is just a mater of expanding an existing range from 10 yards to 60 yards.

For now I just post up videos and links to information about airgun.

Please join the group even if you don’t live it Iowa.

I’m trying to get people to join this Facebook group. That way we can see where everyone lives .
Once we get twenty people we can make a circle and start looking for a place to shoot.
We must have three things
1 safe place with parking.
2 a spot o pot
3 Insurance.
We can’t just go to someone’s house and have strangers shooting in the yard. To much liability . But a gun club is a safe environment.
Or maybe someone knows of a public area? But for now I am just getting people together.

I am making some progress with the field target club in Iowa.

The Facebook group is up to twelve members. I post up different content everyday. Just short videos about a specific topic. Last week was airgun history. This week is big bore airguns.
Just short videos to keep people interested.
I am joining a rifle range not far from my house. My plan is to go every Saturday morning. I think consistency is important when forming a club from scratch. Just being there and having a couple rifles to lend out and show other members will be a good start. Plus this club allows the public non members to pay for day range rentals. So friends can come and shoot if the don’t want to join the range.
I think once I get enough members in the Facebook group we can find a central location. But since it is just me the range twenty minutes away is a good start.

If anyone wants to join the Facebook group. It’s called the Iowa Field Target Association.
I would love to see other people’s rigs and equipment. And show the others. Most of the people in the group don’t have airguns yet. When I say club from scratch. I mean from scratch.
