Field Target for Fun?

The wife and I haven't shot FT yet, but everybody we know is willing to help us set up our rifles....We do love Extreme Field Target and the first day shoot (Arizona is cooling down ) is a week from today.....We both love competing at EFT....But we can't wait to get set up for FT hunter class either....

I hope any match director would let anyone shoot any style for fun as long as their gun isn't over 20 foot pounds so targets don't get damaged.

As a match director, if anyone showed up with the request you made, I would certainly allow them to shoot. Have done it twice already.

As long as the power is legal and will not damage the targets, I would say, pay your fee and mix them in with the group. I have not been submitting my scores lately, so I guess that is what I have been doing.

This sounds like a great way to get shooters that might be on the fence about about shooting FT to come out and play.

Yes, I think any match director will allow any shooter with a gun under 20fpe to shoot how they like.... IF it's not a grand prix match with all the competitive slots filled.
Like said above even with a range finder if the shooter goes last on the lane.

We have also played a game like "Golf" where you do shoot the target until you knock it down... takes longer but fun still. You see who can knock them down with the fewest shots.

At practice matches, I'll let a new shooter go last and keep shooting on a target they missed so they can learn the game sooner.

I also try to squad a new shooter with an experienced one at the local non GP matches.

Most of us are totally into helping new shooters learn and have fun.
