Field target in SETX/SW LA?

Hi all --

Does anyone know of any publically available field target courses in south east Texas or south west Louisiana?

I've never done it, but am somewhat interested in at least giving it a whirl.

Bayou Air Gun Club in Baton Rouge is the closest I know of. We shoot FT every second Saturday of the month. Range is located at the BR Fairgrounds off of Airline a mile south of Highland rd.

Thanks for the info -- Oct is out because I'm out of town and Nov because company but I'll try to make it down in Dec. Will it be ok if I don't have a proper FT rig? I'd probably bring my 1720 carbine...

A 1720 is great for FT Pistol competition, but not suited for the longer ranges we shoot with rifles.At the very least, come and see how things work. We have extra rifles that you can borrow. May seem a little complicated at first to get set up. You will need a scope that has hold over marks, and can focus down to 10 yds.,{ targets are set from 10 to 55 yds.} Will need a side wheel etc. etc., but we have a lot of experienced folks to help out and answer questions. That's the only way to learn other than experience. We only shoot pistol FT at the Cajuns in April. We have a great facility. Hope you can make one of our matches. We also shoot 25 meter and 50 yd. bench rest { 35 ft lb limit } on the 1st and 3rd. Saturdays.
