Falls Twsp. R & P Assn. will be hosting our first FT match of the year on May 16. All are welcome. Let me know if you would like a match program. Never been to an FT match at Falls? Here's what to expect.
Airgun Field Target Matches at Falls Twsp. R & P Assn.
What to Expect
Our matches are open to all shooters. Match fees are the same for all including club members and non-club members. The only exception is junior shooters ( NRA definition) who are not charged a match fee.
The field target matches are conducted at the rear area of the club property. Enter the main gate and proceed behind and past the main club house and firearms ranges. Follow the stone road back along the fence until you come to the archery clubhouse with the airgun range adjacent.
The airgun range is adjacent to the archery clubhouse and parking area. It is available for sight-in prior to the match. There will be paper as well as reactive targets set at various distances for your use. You can bring and use your own paper targets if you would prefer.
We are an AAFTA member club and conduct the American Version of Field Target. We follow all of the AAFTA Rules and Guidelines to the extent possible. All AAFTA Divisions and Classes will be available to shooters as participation warrants. Other Non-AAFTA classes will also be available if requested however no range finders will be permitted on the course.
Our matches are designed to be a “club level match”, 60 shot for rifle and 40 shot for pistol. Although all shooting can be good practice, our course is not designed to prepare shooters for any other specific event. The course is set mostly in a wooded area with some elevated shots. It is set up to be only moderately difficult. We usually run around a 28 Troyer in difficulty. That means that there will be some fairly easy targets but there will also be some difficult and challenging shots as well. The course layout is different for each match.
All of our field targets are NOT the same. Over the past 30+ years we have accumulated a great variety of targets, most of which we use in our matches. The targets are checked and repainted after every match so you will always be shooting freshly painted targets. Unlike the Europeans, our targets are painted somewhat natural colors with some detail. You will not encounter any targets painted solid colors like red, blue, or pink. The targets are almost always fully visible from only the lane you are shooting them in. No confusion.
There will be light snacks, water, and soda available on a donation basis. No alcoholic beverages are permitted on club property.
Thanks for reading.
