Field Target Practice Area Close to Redlands, California

Mod edit: moved to FT, Benchrest and Target Shooting forum

Living here in Redlands California has its benefits, with the beautiful scenery, but it is kind of difficult to find discrete areas where I can go to do some field target, practice. As a relatively new air gunner I want to find a location where I can set up staged targets to get an idea of the proper over and under points on my 3 air rifles. I have been up to Lytle Creek Firing Range a couple of times and the range masters are very accommodating it is not possible to set up targets through 5 yard increments. They allowed me to set up 25 yards and 50 yards targets which was good for checking the zeroes but I couldn't set up the targets the way I would like. I will say that the last time I was out to Lytle, James the range master did an awesome job keeping everyone safe. It was also fun to meet firearms enthusiasts and see their interest in my airguns. I have a 25 cal Hatsan Flash and a .357 Hatsan Carnivore. Eventually I want to do some small game hunting then in the future maybe try a hog hunt.

Also I have gone out to Calimesa a couple of times in the rolling hills on the south side of I-10 and found some spots with good back stops, but I would like somewhere a little more open. Glenn Allen, ( I hope that I spelled his name correctly, sorry Glenn) " The Airgun Hunter" on Youtube has an excellent series of mostly turkey hunting videos. His video titled " Benjamin Bulldog 357 Airgun Turkey Hunt-Fall 2016 explains how to set up/makeup holdover and holdunder charts for each air rifle so that after ranging a target you can follow the chart in the field for accurate hunting. I want to follow his format. Before I forget, Glenn has an amazing video where he dispatches a coyote, that has been seen chasing pets in his neighborhood. He uses his Benjamin Bulldon with the 145 gr Nosler to get the job done effectively, another good video.

So if anyone living in the IE knows of a good spot for field target please let me know?

Thanks

Garnet

From what I know casa is the closest field Target match to you.

They might have a loaner rifle if you do not have an air gun that meets the specified requirements as far as caliber and power.

It seems like you are referring to target shooting, not necessarily field target shooting. The information above is if you want to try FT.

Kerndtc,

Thank you for the info, I'll be sure to check them out. Yeah I'm more for informal target shooting in preparation of eventual small game hunting. I don't think my rifles rise to the standard for ft competition, but it would still be enjoyable to watch and learn from some experienced air gunners.
