Field Target shooting (again) at Temecula, Ca.

After a long hiatus we are again shooting Field Target. No, not in the manner of big two-day matches like we used to, but we now will be having more frequent one-day matches for sure.

We now have a decent course to play on, and in fact, finished our second match of the year yesterday!

We are mostly having pretty informal “practice events”, but make no mistake, the course is no cakewalk, as the topguy, a known 95% shooter was in the high 70% range on the new course (and HE is the guy that mostly designed and set it)!

Yesterday we had four shooters participating in a 42 shot match, and conveniently we each “won”, as we were each in seperate classes. High score was taken by WFTF shooter George D, followed closely by Open Class Roger Lovett, then me in Freestyle, and newguy Thane in Hunter.

The course is intended to be mostly semi-permanent, so we can practice whenever weather and schedules permit.

The new course complements the existing covered Benchrest range, and shares much of the same area.

Really enjoyed the match breaking in a new to me USFT. Great weather, stunning views, some long targets, tricky close in targets and excellent company!

Thanks guys!
Thanks Thane! Yes, we had some of the finest weather ever for a match! Frankly, it was SO good it doesnt inspire me with confidence regarding my shooting performance, since wind here is normally a big factor and we had only light breeze yesterday.

I too was trying a brand new gun, so next time I‘ll prolly fall back on my trusty .177 gun with sidewheel scope, instead of the .22 with no sidewheel I used yesterday. Being an experienced FT shooter from way back, I have tons of excuses on hand for any and all misses.
