Events Field Target Starting at Palmyra Sportsmens Assoc - Palmyra, PA

For those in the Central Pennsylvania area or willing to make the drive to Palmyra Sportsmen's Association (PSA), we will be holding a Field Target event once per month. This is not a formal match, more like a practice open to the public. We want our events to be accessible to new shooters and hopefully build a following in the Central PA area. If you are experienced at FT, we welcome you to come out and give our course a try, provide us with feedback, and any pointers; we too are new to this game.

Our first event will be held in the afternoon of August 14, 2021.

Additional details can be found on our web site https://www.palmyrasportsmens.com/Field-Target

Hoping to drive up from Maryland for this one!

Looks to be a bit of a 'rolling' start process where you can come in any time around 12:30-3 and jump into the next available spot?

Correct, the start times are staggered. When you sign up you'll be placed on a squad and be sent on the course when the squad is sufficiently filled. Every squad will start on lane 1 and proceed through the course.

This is not a match, you will keep score and turn it in, but this is so we can gather info on how to further tweak our course difficulty for future events. Scores will not be publicly posted. The FT rules are not being enforced, shoot whatever position you wish, but abide by all safety rules. We will have lanes marked with forced position suggestions, but you are not required to shoot the forced position. The goal is to have fun, get new shooters acclimated to this game, maybe get some junior shooters out with their parents, and be safe while doing it. FT is new to the area, so we hope this monthly casual event will get some local interest and prepare us to run a more serious match in the future.

My gun had an unexpected issue and is at the repair shop. I probably won't make it this month.

That's a bummer! What were you shooting?

I believe OP mentioned they'll have rifles available.

My Zbroia Kozak sprung a leak after several thousand rounds. Im just not into shooting a rental or someone else's gun that I am not familiar with. Its being fixed now. But I won't have it in time for this shoot unfortunately. I will be at an upcoming shoot (probably Setember) really excited to give FT a try. Going to bring my daughter she wants to see what it is like as well. This gives me time to get a focus wheel and get some range time with it.

Hope everyone has a ton of fun Saturday.

It was a really fun shoot. It was a little short but everyone seemed to have a great time. I know I did! They had a practice range setup for 10-55yds with targets at 5yd increments. There were five total lanes with two targets on each lane. We took a total of 6 shots per lane, 30 shots for the entire round. Conveniently, almost all of the lanes were in the shade so it was a very comfortable day despite the heat. I'm looking forward to going back for next months match.

Here are some photos that were taken by @grainmatterphotos and myself.

Had a good time shooting with everyone this weekend. The course difficulty was calculated as an "easy" course. We will probably continue to keep things on the easy to low moderate difficulty for the course to remain friendly to new shooters, but I think we can make some changes to provide more variable levels of difficulty from target to target.

We encourage you to consider bringing your kids to expose them to this game.

Also, does everyone see that buck watching the shooter on lane 4?
