Field Target string organizer?

Been playing with one of these in my backyard and will be trying at the next match. The stake has little hooks for fencing but works very well to keep the strings neat and wont fall when the strings are pulled. Easilydoubles as a lane marker too. Helps keep the winders organized on the lane too. Been trying to develop something for the winders and strings. I can easily modify this to be part of a pvc pipe marker too. Thoughts?

Another option - paint a wooden stake and staple or screw a cable guide to it.

I like that, can even customize a 4x4 post and burn in a club logo amd lane number. Any woodburners out there? Would look really nice with a Texas star on it too.

The fencing post idea was a fumble actually, we were rebuilding a quail run and set up a temp fence for them. I was shooting later that day and neglected to wind in the strings. The wife tripped over one that night while putting the chickens up, cursed me horribly and she stuck the strings into the temp fence post. Next day I went to shoot, yanked the strings while in the post to right the targets and a lightbulb went off. Albeit dim as hell, but lit.

Back in the day when I was actively involved in setting up FT natches, we tried numerous string holders. Most worked quite well, your stakes are a great idea, however, you need to cobsider the shooters and the pisitions they sit in. Are they left handed or right handed?? Some shooters didnt like others reaching over or around them when pulling the string, some wanted to pull their own while others wanted someone ekse to pull the strings. We were never able to come up with a suitable way to secure the reset string so everyone was satisfied!!! Good luck and will be loojing forward to seeing how well your idea works!!

You bring up great points I did not think of. Thanks for the input!

We have also put some thought to this as every ft MD hates spools sitting in the dirt. We just tried out last match to put out Home Depot buckets 🪣 out on the line. They do several things:

1 help with putting the spools 🧵 in when pulling strings. Makes it quick.

2. A place to keep the spools in during the match. Keeps em clean.

3. And most importantly to put the targets in after the match. So when each lane pulls their own targets, they put the lane sign, pvc, spools, clamps, and targets in it. Then they have a handy dandy carrying case to bring em up in. Also it keeps the dirt out of the target mechanisms.

Confucius say: “many hands make little work”

But I always welcome these cool ideas too!!
