Field target

Looking at getting into ft next year going to spend this summer setting up and praticing I have a at44 .22 and a marauder .177 I want to set both up for it one for me and the wife might try and get another marauder if funds permit I want to get reg for both and one has a 4-12x44 and the other has a 4-12x50 thinking about the hunter class are these good starter setups I don't have a lot of funds to through at this right now just looking at something for me and the wife to do together at a minimal cost after they are all setup of course

Thanks for any help

If you are on a tight budget I would use what you already have and just convert the AT44 into a 177 which should be accurate enough and if it is shooting too hot then put in a $70 regulator to lower the power or JB weld some off the holes on the air cylinder one at a time and chrony it. The 177 Marauder can shoot great without a regulator, it just takes time and patience and a chrony to adjust it enough to tune it to get it shooting flat enough to get you through the course. IMO a factory 177 AT44 barrel is more accurate than a factory 177 Marauder barrel FYI.

100% agree on the Marauder. I just sold a .177 I had set up for HFT with a polygonal barrel and Hawke 6-24x sidewinder. It'd be competitive against guns costing 2-3x the money. Sold the combo to @tiptop here on AGN. It's more than just a "starter" combo for HFT and (if he'll part with it) it'd be an awesome "turn-key" setup that won't break the bank. FWIW,
