4th : Swapped out the steel bottle for a CF bottle. This took 1 lb. off of the front of the rifle.
Very nice. Where did you get the CF bottle? Did you install yourself? This would be a great mod for the Boss if fits the standard stock.

I bought the bottle from Precision Airguns and Supplies and installed it myself. It was as simple as unscrewing the old tank and screwing on the CF bottle. By standard stock, I take it that you mean the wood stock. I don't see any reason that it wouldn't.

Well Chris brought that fine piece of FX work to the THAGC monthly Field Target competition held at the location for the nationals Saturday. I am sold on getting one!
It is a sweet shooting machine. It is just the same as shooting my FX Royal in .22 with a little more push back and a lot more power. The Hugget LDC really keeps it as quiet as the .22....Seriously!

As far as the spinner I made for him....No contest! I can back off the 3/4" thickness and perhaps throw away the ground pegs.

At 45 yds the hits on the 2 7/8" paddle resulted in it going back to about 45 degrees and swinging about twice before settling to stop. The 2 1/4" diameter paddle went to about halfway up then swung back and forth several times before settling.
At 45 yards the .30 could not get the paddles to swing all the way around.I believe the Boss pushes out at 80+ FPE...? I definitely went with overkill on the 3/4" thick hit paddles.
We then backed the target out to 88 yds and the FX still drilled the paddles with the correct holdover. Still a good reactive target for Chris's FX Boss so I left it with him to enjoy.....I now know that I can go 1/2" and even less thickness for the spinners.

What a nice shooting rifle! As a Daystate and FX owner, the FX Boss is on the top of my "Next Rifle" list...(Or is it the Daystate Regal)? Stop confusing me Chris!

I would like to thank Chris for bringing it and letting me and Jimmy shoot it. So often we want a rifle and never get the chance to try one out in person to see if it will be a good fit.....That is why this forum and the air gunning community are the best!

Paul, you & Jimmy are more than welcome. It was my pleasure to let yall try out the Boss. I know how it is to want to buy a rifle that you have only read about or seen on the internet. That is why I drove 12.5 hrs. to Precision Airguns last summer when I picked up my Wolverine & Regal. I put my hands on just about every rifle that Jim had in stock. Plus he let me shoot quite a few rifles while I was there. My Boss & Regal are my "Go To" air rifles. I won't ever get rid of them.
Thanks again for the great spinner target!!! I didn't expect you to just let me take it to a new home. I really appreciate it & if I can ever help you out in any way, I'm just a phone call away.
We will have to get together after the Nationals & do some bench rest shooting at your place. Get Jimmy to come over & we can have a mini bench rest competition. I ordered a Steyr MEC buttstock from Jim Monday. He told me that he was setting up a Steyr LG110 FT for benchrest. Now that will be a tack driver!!! I am trying to practice as much as possible for the Nationals. I got the MEC stock in today & my Rowan Engineering offset mount should be here Monday. I knew that I shouldn't have picked Chris B's Steyr up. That was an expensive mistake !! LOL!! Due to my work schedule this year, I basically just threw the rifle together & started going to matches. I am going try making some adjustments to help make the rifle "fit" me better & hopefully more comfortable & steady. We shall see. Looking forward to seeing you & Jimmy in a couple of weeks.

Hi NCairgunner,

I recently bought a Boss myself (at the AOA store) and while it is very quiet considering the power output I was wondering about replacing the stock shroud tube with a Huggett.

I also have a Wolverine .22 limited edition with a full Hugget Shroud - it is quite a bit quieter than my new Boss (and not just the pellet thump).

I wondered what you think of your Hugget upgrade after a few months - was it worth it? Is the noise difference big or is it barely noticeable? What did AOA charge you for modifying that .25 Huggett to use on the .30 Boss?

Thank you for any tips or info... (BTW, I am in Sunnyvale, CA)
