Finally arrived. The P-ROD.

BeeGee11

I remember that I did a little light reaming (sanding & smoothing) of the sharp edges of each hole on my mags. Especially the inside edge of the bottom plate (looking down). You have to take the mag apart to get to this, but it's easy. I also think it helps to have a quick positive stroke loading the pellet. I was pushing too slow at first, and this works against you.

This is a great idea. Before I go tearing into it, are there any suggestions on what to look out for when taking it apart?

This is on my short list! The wife gave me a Hmmmmrrr when I asked about getting one. She said that 3 pistols was enough for now. (que the losing Price is RIght Music). I just need to have one of these Pistols-- but she is correct. We are on overtime right now at work but that money is ear marked all ready. They are telling us that more overtime will be coming this summer (of course) so maybe I can siphoned some of that into a Prod.... Glad your enjoying this!

I just broke down the magazine to have a look at the inside. I tapered the exit hole smooth where the pellets exit and now it definitely feeds much more smoothly. Good advice and highly recommended.

I used a Dremmel with a small, tapered polishing head. Not the cotton/fabric kind that you add compound to. It was a smooth, slow material removal, perfect for this tiny area.

My PROD seems to like 15.9g JSB's.

I don't have lighter pellets but I will purchase the H & N FTT's with 5.53mm heads.

This is 8 shots at 25 yards:

I have advanced the hammer striker to 3 full turns but the hammer spring has no preload.

The transfer port is the silver one (medium); red having the smallest hole.

The pellet path is like an arc at 25 yards 😁

My man I'm liking that stock! Who made it?

In all honesty, I have not shot airguns and rimfires in over a year (?).

This is the 1st time I have aired and shot my custom PROD, as my GX PCP hand pump was just delivered last Sunday.

I assembled my stainless Don Cothran 2260 PCP right away to test it against the PROD.

The barrel is a 14" LW in .177.

No hammer spring preload.

Hammer spring is a Magnum Air Power .038" WD as well as the stainless valve torx screws (very tight fit on the DC tube I had to polish and grease them).

Transfer port is a that of a Challenger, so the hole is very small.

Starting pressure (tube has no gauge) was 2k PSI based on the hand pump's reading:

In reality, this is really 8 shots; 3 shots are strays from 10.34g JSB's, which made the hole a bit bigger:

I did over 20 shots including my sight in ones and did not notice any drop in the POI.

I built the stainless DC 2260 to emulate the 1720T/1701P, or even the Challenger and it seems to do just that.

I need to buy me a chrono.

There is no doubt in my mind the 2260 will beat the PROD in accuracy, as it was already showing signs of dominance when I pitted them against each other.

It is a Boyds Barracuda stock for the Disco.

The trigger assembly is a Magnum Air Power, so it is aluminum with stainless and steel innards---it is crisper than my KIDD single stage 10/22 trigger.

I did change the PROD tube to that of a 1701P's that is why it looks shorter.

The 1701P and Disco share the same gauge location, hence my decision to replace the PROD tube.

The PROD/1720T has its gauge farther from the trigger frame, you know.

Lastly, I had it Cerakoted in silver.

Mr. Steve, it is made in Canada by a very talented gent named Mr. Al/Gippeto in the GTA.

Excellent fit (very tight!) and finish (no wobble but it is a heavy and solid steel piece), so you may need to sand the ID your tube, as they differ circumferentially--don't ever sand the adapter, no sir 😁

I have 2 of his AR adapters (offset and non offset) and the one on top is a hybrid to fit the 22xx and PROD/17xx breech/tube, so there are two 8-32 up and down and two 4-40 threaded holes.

It has a built in spring adjuster.

Oh, I did order another one, lol!

He only takes payments when the item is ready to ship.

One time, I sent him funds and it took less than 5 minutes for him to refund me, advising me not to send payment when it is not ready for shipment yet ☝️

Well, he knows I am a perfectionist and demand no less 😁
