Finally gave up.....bought a air rifle

Yep, a quick comparison.

JSB 18.1g tin @ 500 pellets = $20 per tin average price
RF match grade ammo ( Eley Tenex, RWS50 & RWS100, Lapua Midas Plus, Lapua Long and Super Long Range, et al.);

Let’s say the average RF match ammo is about 40 cents per round x 50 rounds per box = $20 per box of 50 rounds.

10X ( 500 pellets vs. 50 .22 RF rounds) the amount of pellets for the same price at $20.

I do like shooting my N50 targets with my Annie’s, but I shoot my air rifles a lot more. I tried a lot of the cheaper RF ammo, and it shoots so poorly for competitive paper targets at 50y and 100y, I would rather use the better ammo to score better.

If your just plinking or shooting steel, I understand the cheaper ammo game as well. Two different disciplines.

This is exactly what lead me to airguns a few years back. When 1,000 rounds of 5.56 are hitting you for $800 it was time to make a change and to be honest I'm loving airguns now. Unless I want to tackle some 1,000yrd shot or really work on my wind calls I don't see me firing a cartridge round any time soon.

Very little pb shooting since falling into the airgun sport a few years ago. Come to think about it I haven’t taken a 22 lr squirrel hunting since getting into good quality air rifles.

I personally had enough of the craziness of trying to find (or pay outrageous prices) for .22 ammo. I spent a couple of weeks researching the internet for a quality air rifle. With the gun and scope on the way Im looking forward to getting back into some target shooting.
OK.
Anybody hear from the original author of this thread??

He seems to be missing in action!

So Joel649 said he purchased not only a new airgun, but also a new scope.....
That was several weeks ago, with no reply on what exactly he ended up purchasing......

Im going to take a wild guess, and say he purchased a $3000 airgun, and a $2500 scope, and his wife had a fit!

OR ..... he fell into the 1200 FPS gamo kick like a mule and tried to hit 1 inch @ 50 yards first time out and said "this is BS "
