I've been seeing a squirrel for a couple weeks. I last got one 11/4. I missed it a couple times because I was using one of my bullpup P35s, the shot was close, and I didn't aim far enough above it. One shot was only 13.5 yards away. I decided to switch guns not because the P35s won't work but because making the adjustment for close range with them is not something I am good at. I switched to my Prod. I hadn't shot a squirrel with it for about 2 years. It's scope is a lot closer to the bore so the amount it shoots low at close range is less and it gets to a level I don't have to worry about much sooner. This squirrel was pretty smart - I educated him. He would see me or hear my dog and start running to get across the street to a drainage area. Today I saw him out a side window, as I have before. My dog didn't see him so she wasn't barking. I let him keep going in fits and spurts towards my oaks in the back of my back yard. That let him get to where a miss would go out over the lake. But I didn't miss. He sat still for long enough and I hit him high on the shoulder. Chest was a mess, there was a hole in the opposite shoulder but I did not see the pellet. Might have passed through. Did not hit major bones. He dropped immediately. 16 ounce made. 17.5 yards at an upward 29 degree angle. H&N copper plated FTT launched at about 750 fps. It was raining so I took the pictures inside.
