First 5 Shots After Fill Up

I have an Avenger .22 I fill to 4000 lbs and the next 5 shots are all over the place 

any ideas or reasons ?????????

Does the gauge for the regulator pressure give a clue? That is, the regulated pressure different with 4000psi in the reservoir versus when there is, say, 3400psi in the reservoir?

The regulators for the Avenger do not generally maintain the desired setpoint at higher fill pressures.

Just because they CAN be filled to 4,000 doesn't mean the gun will "like" it. Find out what the gun's sweet spot is (at what max to min pressure where it shoots most accurately) & only fill to the max of the sweet spot. Many airguns are "off" the 1st shot or few after filling. I don't know why but it's true.
