First blood of 2022

It was a double header this afternoon, all within about a five minute period. I was sitting at my window with a cup of coffee…or maybe it was a beer, when the first timber tiger of the season showed up next to my 25 yard target. It was clearly scoping out the area and planning the first wire harness chewing session.
But thankfully it was my trusty little FX Royal in .177 that was resting on the bags and perfectly zeroed at that distance. He was one of the ones that just keeps moving, like a charging lion.

I knew I had to dial it in and not panic…make the first shot count. He finally paused for a split second and I was able to get a good raking shot through the vitals. When all the dust settled and I knew I was still standing…or sitting and finishing my beer, I caught my breath and thought I’d try a group at my 35 yard target.
The little Royal .177 was putting them in one ragged hole. My nerves had settled down a bit from the timber tiger charge and I was feeling fairly safe again and even having a good time when a trophy sized blue bottle fly showed up on the target. Once again, in one evening, it came down to him or me.
I took a quick aim and snapped off the shot as soon as it stopped walking, and it was perfect as the picture shows lol! Such pressure in one evening! Please forgive the filthy finger, I was just working with metal lol! What a fun shooting session/hunt/close call!! I survived the double assault!
