N/A First cold weather shooting

My first time shooting PCP’s in cold weather, mid to high 30’s. I had the Cayden, Bullboss, Flashpup wood, and a Flaspup synthetic out today. All four in .22 and all are tuned to shoot Crosman HP’s. They all shoot them really well. Except today. Shooting at 40 yds, the only one that did not require a re zero was the Synthetic Pup. It was a laser as usual. I love that little guy. Shoots like that and whisper quiet too( has the eBay 13 stack insert). The woody‘s velocity dropped off seriously, but it is getting a little long in the tooth, so to speak. Cayden shot 1 mill left, 1 mill low, and the Bullboss shot 1/2 mill high and dead center.
Once I got the Cayden zero’ed I decided to crank up the velocity to try some 18gr slugs for the first time. I have the Airgun Revisions tune kit in her, so the hottest I could get was in the 800-820 range For the slugs. This brought the speed with the Crosman’s up to the 940 range. I found it very interesting that both projectiles shot to the same point of impact at that speed and distance.Had I not been so stinking cold I probably could’ve put them hole in hole. It was nearly that as it was. The Cayden continues to amaze me at how well it performs. Now that I know she will shoot slugs like that I can’t wait to stretch her out to 100+. Might be a month or more before that happens though. If it shoots this well out to distance, I’ll try to post some pics.

I have the cayden as well.
It has been a great rifle for slugs and pellets. I also use the cphp 14.3 gr pellets and have found them to be good if the wind is not too bad. I posted a reply with picture on "what paper target did you shoot today" using the cphp pellets @ 50 yards. The jsb 15.89 pellets, and the NSA 17.5 gr slugs, also shoot great.

None of us are getting any younger.

It's in the low 40's here in Vegas this morning. My back, hips, knees all remind me of my poor choices as a younger man.

I'm building a small range on the side of my house, going to wait until it warms up to start.

Who knew being 60 was such a drag.
Haha, it's 17 degrees here right now. I can't wait until Wednesday when the heat rolls in, supposed to reach a high of 39!

the "S" word is not mentioned here. Today is up to 45 Wednesday is back to normal high 50's and 60's
I'm sorry! I should have written my first sentence a little different.
Something like that: "In Estonia we have 14°F and windy. Oh, and there is about 10" of snow as well and snow blizzard incoming."

;)

I shoot in cold weather. Was 19 degrees yesterday morning at the ranch we manage.
Mrs. Chukar wanted to try the new tripod I got her so we plinked at beer and pop cans when it got into the mid 30’s.
I had a new Rattler 357 that I am shooting pellets through until my first order of slugs arrives. Once those arrive I don‘t care what the weather is doing, I will start working on figuring out what shoots best out of it.
If we only shot in fair weather My shooting days would be cut by 35% or worse.

I don’t shy away from the weather. I work outside in it mostly. Gotta play where ya live. This was just my first cold weather pcp shoot as I have only been in the rabbit hole about 9 months. I plan on warming up my garage and shooting into the back yard to see how the velocities change going from 30 to 50 deg. Found it really interesting that the flashpup s still shot to point of aim and the others didn’t. Only checked velocity on the Cayden because the chronograph battery died.

In February 2023, my shooting "range" was like this:

20°F outside, snowy. Window open, target outside at around 50yrd.

I was out squirrel hunting on Saturday with my FX Wildcat and it was in the mid 30's. POI didn't change on me.
Glad to hear. That’s a really nice rifle, and if funds were unlimited I might just bend that way. But at my age and income, a gun that shoots really well, and costs 5 times less, suits me just fine😎. In the meantime, I will deal with the little quirks that my other guns might have. I find the tinkering as part of the fun of these launchers.
