First Coyote

Went deer hunting this morning and this nice black male walked across the field. My very first.. more exciting than any deer. 

Sorry.. No pcp.. PB'er.. couldn't help it.. going to mounted.

Well let's see. I was in a 16' tall box stand. ~6:30 am. EST ( in South Carolina) I saw him walking across dove field / food plot. Thought it was a deer. He turned and was walking toward me from 11:00 o'clock.. He never stopped..

Rifle: Rem 700 / 243 / 65 gr Vmax / ~75 yds / DRT.. I couldn't believe it. I was thrilled to no end!! Doing a full standing mount..

Never seen a black yote in 63 years in West Texas, Very dark in color , But not black.

I have seen a black wolf in Yellow stone, To bad you can not check the DNA ?

That all black is a rarity. You need to mount it. You probably never see one again. I've never seen one.

I did not get the weight.. But the taxidermist that is going to mount him said it was a "nice" one.. maybe 30 lb ( totally guessing) that is the 2nd all black one i've seen. The first was hit by a car in northern spartanburg county, SC. I harvested this one in southern Greenville county SC..

That's a beautiful yote... I've never seen a black one but I have family members that have. I got a big male a couple years ago that was 50 lbs. Congrats and let us know how the mount comes out.

Melanin actually
