First critter caught with PARD (NO KILLS)

I just received my Pard today. I was excited to see how it looks with an IR flood light I have set up in my yard.
Everything looks great and I caught this guy snacking. I enjoy watching the flying squirrels. It amazes me how small they are.

In case you are wondering, this is the flood light I have set up.

I got Grays that come in my window" and eat"i like to watch them.Im thinking about taking them in as they look like their on meth?

I got one if those 90 degree lights, returned and got a 60 degree one, then returned it and settled on a 15 degree one. Using a 15 degree light allows you to have the light much further away where the critters would never see the faint red glow of the 850nm LEDs. At 25 yards it's brighter than I need for best contrast and only use 50% power.

You can choose many different angles.

I’ll remember that when I get big property. Currently I have vegetation that would block anything further away.

My method with the 90 degree has been the same for two years. It sits inside my house against a window, and has constantly been on the entire two years. My thought is the animals get used to it. And if it spooks some away, that’s fine, I only put it in for pest control.

Owls hunting at night and the flying squirrels have been the coolest stuff I’ve watched on my camera.

Florida_Man,
Very cool with the IR floodlight. A friend gave me one of those 24hr recording type security systems a while back because it would not record. I took one of the bullet cameras that had a ring of IR LED’s in it and bought a 5” LCD screen and hooked it all up to use as a night vision for backyard viewing of the occasional deer that stop by.
Works pretty good. Downside of course is there is no magnification adjustment.

Great picture and video!

Which PARD did you get and what made you go for NV vs Thermal?
I bought the NV008S, no range finding. It is just for pest control in my yard. I have a neighbor that keeps hunting dogs in kennels right up close to my property. I'm sure there is always dog food that falls, because I battle rats. They stay away until the winter when they get cold, and chew their way in my attic. So I went on the offensive.

I had a clip on IR that I used prior to this. The yard is already set up for IR. For my use, I can't justify the cost of a thermal optic.
I don't need LRF because I know all the distances in my yard.

I like the PARD NV008S because of its compact size and features.

Watching small animals at night is so fun, please note my signature. Not intended to advertise, but it's really worth it
I'm a little bummed out. I just bought my non-LRF for $599 on Sept 26th from Pard USA on ebay. That's typically my luck haha.

Mine is now mounted up the way I want with the ZB Rail at the rear of my action. It's a great combination that allows the crosshair to stay centered. @PARD_Tech thanks for the reply in the other thread. It took an M6x12mm to mount into the ZB.

In the video you can see an indoor security camera I use to monitor the feeder. I just plug it into a cheap Walmart Onn battery pack and it last about 18 hours.

This is the view from that camera.

Man, that clown is creepy. I would have shot it's head off immediately after placing it there.

100% peppermint oil (not the stuff in the cooking aisle) on cotton balls spread in the attic will keep rodents out , it burns their eyes , and yours while you installing .
