Not till Oct. 1 here in east Texas, but that sure looks like a SQUIRREL to me. I know, nobody likes a smartass!!!

Nice shooting. Still got at least 1 week to go before we start here in CA. That's a fat one. Hopefully we get some that size this year with all the fire going on.

That’s a great shot running along a branch in a tree at 80 yards, I completely understand why you didn’t go for a headshot.

Ya I don't go for the head if they are moving. Its always a good feeling when you hear that thud/pop sound and they stop instantly.

80 yards running nice shot, a little tip for the squarel hunters have crow call handy have the gun already up and when they get in the open between branches blow it they usually stop immediately .

Just started for us as well. Got two head shots, but they were pretty close shots so nothing spectacular.
