First doozy ... makes one feel awful! Classifieds WTB .22 Slugs

First big doozy on AN classifieds WTB slugs. Bought a lot of .22 slugs and shown pictures of tins, bags, boxes, cylinders. Actually got lots of partials to hardly any to empty boxes and damaged ones, messed up slugs. Doubt any recourse as used PP friends and family - still hate paypal. WTF ... venting. Next time I won't do lots etc unless the seller has been here on AN since the beginning of time or stick to retail shops. Sick ...😭

Wife says I should always assume honesty first in folks, hummm ... I don't know these days. May have to start a go fund me on this debacle.

Yeah, I know ... take a chance, beware, accept the consequences. Oh, not what I expected to see today for the weekend and trying out slugs.

What about the other guy, well, if anything happens ... will be back in the PMs only.

I have had some other questionable pellet purchases but offset by less $ spent. In that case, I knew I was getting a partial, but wasn't told they were sorted out damaged pellets. Let that one go - smaller lose. Overall, properly shipping pellets to protect from shipping drops and bumps, has been more of the cases because the pellet skirts get all messed up.

I have ran into some generous folks here. They see you need something or have something they don't mind trading for ... just exchange shipping labels. One fellow took a box of incorrect ammo I bought elsewhere but sent me ammo that would actual work in my Huben. Those really are the better ones IMHO. I try to repay that when I can.

That's were its headed most likely - both exchanging negative feedback. Don't like that either. Blaming the shipper and saying I still got a good deal for my offer. But my offer was not based on partials and empties and POS packing! I know these shippers as everyone else does ... they all handle stuff rough. Pellets or slugs don't get shipped like that ... especially in bulk. Its not far from negative feedback exchanges. In the PM back and forth right now and absolutely no recourse ... I just got to work though the drama, take a lot of deep breaths, and move along.

Mostly, I'm one more reminder and example here for everyone ... make better choices and deals than I did. Assume nothing, or you'll end up paying for empties etc.

I'm just pondering the negative feedback at this point as the PM stuff isn't going anywhere. Actually have not ran into anyone yet with negatives on AN ... well that may change now? Trying to write this off in my head that I contributed to someone's in 'known' retirement years per their said so earlier in the deal discussions. (Tithing moment aye) Might just be the best route regardless of my @Ss hurt.

I don’t buy projectiles from private parties or sell them. I take the ones that I won’t use to the local air gun shop and donate them so others can test them. Kind of paying it forward.
I would not get into an out front confrontation with anyone over this on the forum. As you said, negative feedback. A month from now someone looking at your feedback will have long forgotten your post here but the negative impact will remain.

I would say who it was. We all understand that things happen, and if the pellets/slugs are missing the seller should ask you to send them back and he will refund you. At least that is what an honest seller would do.

I just sold my 601 to a gentleman who I quoted a shipping price to based on another shipment. We'll went to ship today and shipping was 4x what I quoted him. We'll I ate that because it wasn't his fault but mine. Same thing here.

I would definitely mention poor packaging. Person could have placed old foam packaging from other tins into the partial tins to protect the pellets from moving. And put more packaging foam or cardboard to prevent movement in the box. That way you can hopefully prevent a future buyer from getting the same beat up product.

Heavy delicate items like pellets need packaging to prevent movement.

I totally over pack my items. Even return items I pack to the point if I drop kick the item it won't get damaged.

This was one of the items I shipped. It was totally over packed but I did not want anyone to say that I did not make a attempt in packing it properly. This one I put the items in bags, then the address of who it goes to incase the box breaks. Super heavy card board that was previously used to prevent bending of delicate items like moldings was used around the items. Then placed in foam spacers to prevent movement in the box. The foam spacers were then hot glued in placed. Extra cardboard was placed at each end of the box to prevent the item from poking thru. Then additional cardboard was cut and fitted into the remaining air space inside the box. Unless you run over the box with a car the item was not going to be damaged in any way. Well maybe I should have put another bag around everything so it was waterproof. Yes maybe a little over packed. I should have just rolled the items in cardboard until it could fit into a box tightly.

May be rather new to AN, but not to forum stuff ... seen a lot in my years as many here have going from interests to interests. Remember how eBay use to let sellers and buyers knock it out in the feedback system? Trust me, I want to hash it out and feel better with votes, polling, and sides picked ... won't go well, never does. I'm choosing not to fire off the negative first. My buying will certainly change from this experience on pellets and slugs. Far as the PM's, its over and done there - trust & credibility gone. Thanks for everyone's posts. I'll sort out what I can use and enjoy something that is very relaxing to me, shooting my air rifles at targets and pests. Now that should have all of us smiling :)

Aaah, a forum plus a marketplace that nobody gets or has to worry about negative feedback. Kinda sounds like the world we are starting to live in now. Just do what you want. If you get busted, flip the script and turn yourself into a victim or do anything else you can to make the accuser leave you alone.
Already living in that world, I agree with you for the most part. Not worth the pros, cons, and effort on a forum. At best, courtroom would be 'maybe' somewhat better these days. I'm choosing not to, right or wrong, innocent or guilty. The experience pushes me towards coverage, return policies, and payment methods not well supported under a forum format by its nature. Forum formats are landmines and I'd still choose a court system process. The costs ... how I determine them, not worth it. May be different for others here on AN. I have no recourse here without dropping in a ton more money than what is already lost. Take the feedback given through out this thread along with some solid feedback from other members ... no negative feedback required perhaps? Regardless, everyone needs to pick and choose their fights wisely. Larger can of worms with that world you envision. I'm tired ... calling it quits for today.
