First dove for the .25 Wildcat

UPS dropped off this Wildcat MK2 in .25 yesterday afternoon. I promptly aired it up, mounted an Athlon Helos BTR 2-12 (mil) and stoked it with 26.5 JBS Hades pellets. After a little HS tune, I had it sighted in at 40 yards into ragged holes at 890fps.

Couldn’t wait to put a few bodies on it, so I headed out to the dairy. Ranged this guy at 68 yards, dialed the 1.6 mils in the turret, held a mil of right wind…. and rolled her hard. Shot a few more at ranges between 40-75 yards in a nasty wind.

I think I’m gonna like this rig….

Retired to Florida in 2005, found neighborhood under siege by badly mannered crows. Garbage pulled from cans, early morning raucous calls, songbirds nearly wiped out. Fought the good fight with my Crosman 760 from a homemade blind, they scolded, out of range, for daring to challenge. Few years back replaced Crosman with Wildcat MK3 .30 Sniper, hitting dime-size circles @ 50 yards with JSB 44.75s. Next encounter left three on the ground, the others bugged out. Whole new ballgame after that, grateful neighbors think bird flu got them, I just nod my head. Yeah, Wildcat definitely grows on you. WM

The lead / bird flu has accounted for several of those characters here at my place too. Leave my tomatoes & bluebird alone !!

Good shooting. I could see a WK MK3 .30 in my future.

Crows are savvy, they figure out safe ranges pretty quick. Betcha one of those big JSBs would hammer an iguana too!
Crows are very smart, none closer than 150 yards now, upgraded from 860 FPS (JSB 44.75s) Wildcat MK3 (pre-bottle version) to 960 FPS AGT Vulcan 3. Stuck with .30 since dropped right now was preferred over dead carcasses all over neighborhood. WM

My father who long ago departed to the happy hunting grounds, used to say that crows could tell the difference between a man with a rifle and a man with a stick.
Well, they know me, nothing but crow obscenities screamed in my direction each time I go for a bike ride. Always tell them to stop by the house some time, I've got something for them. No takers, yet. WM
