first group ever shot with HW44

Hi I am a PCP rifle shooter , I tried to shoot 2 groups today at 35 yards and here are groups , can someone please tell me how bad this is for a pistol at this range , it is a 17fpe gun .

with my H-2 RED DOT .Tomorrow I will put a low powered rifle scope like swfa 1x6 or a trijicon 1x8 to see how it groups ,

I my self expected all pellets to be touching ,but maybe it needs to be shot more any ideas ???

Looks pretty good to me, need to put a quarter or dime up there so we can judge,

But I have heard the HW 44 is one of the most accurate pistols out.

My HW44 really surprised me with it's accuracy and I've been a pistol shooter for over 50 years. Any one particular pistol could have issues but your statement about being a rifle shooter means you might need more trigger time to get a feel for pistol shooting-it is different and 35 yards is getting out there for one. The statement about something by the group for size comparison is good also. The right group probably isn't bad at all for the distance. And a scope should tighten it up some over a red dot.

Hi Lou, I suggest putting a scope on it and then try two bags on a bench. I’m betting that you will be getting incredible groups right away unless something is wrong with the gun. My friend had never shot a gun of any kind and she was getting almost every shot inside of a dime at 25 yards! I know it’s not the usual way to use a pistol, but it’s definitely going to show you the potential of the HW44. I liked the .177 so much that I bought a .22 as well. Just as accurate too. Good luck and enjoy! P.S. the rear bag is essential for one hole groups ( for me anyway ).

So the JSB's appear to be just under an inch at 35 yards with a red dot? If so, nothing wrong with the pistol.

Not bad and you will get better,Fact, pistols are harder to shoot and it takes time.Your pistol is of known quality.

That is the fun of it for me,to become a better shoot with pistols.

Pellet sedation is important,you do not want the pellet over aggressive, oops sorry I meant selection.,there are many reviews on this pistol that should help.You shooting is good...

Sedation works with that aggression as well. Maybe drunk pellets would shoot better.

That's really not bad. Pistols are a bit trickier. And low or no zoom optics will be trickier than say a 4 or 6x scope. I prefer shooting with no zoom or 1.5-2x scopes on pistols. I like the challenge and discipline

here is with a swfa scope , I now am running a dedal and now I can tough pellets I did not take pic yet but I got good scope now as the dedal can adjust parallax down to like 3 yards where as swfa is out of focus closer then say 75 yards

In most situations that gun will outshoot the shooter all day long. That is to say the deciding factor in true accuracy is you, not the gun. In a gun vise the pellet group would be one big hole, barring wind and other variables.

It's a great little gun, and the more you shoot the more accurate that gun will seem to get!

Don't be timid about trying some different weight pellets/slugs either! You might find the gun can be a bit picky about what it will shoot best.

yes only gripe to be honest is my rifles get 50 plus shots this one 2 mags .



I will try other then jsb 16 and 18 gr and hadies hepotter what kind of ammo and weights ?

I was never all that impressed with mine when I had it. I sold it in favor of my Ocelot even though its only a single shot. Power difference was minor and the Ocelot gets near 60 shots.

That's not bad shooting, and it will tighten up when you get the right pellet for your particular gun, and get your trigger and breathing control down more. Here's a video I made of my HW44 while messing around with a magnifier behind a red dot. Looks goofy as heck, but didn't do too bad overall. That whole optic setup has been removed and I now only use a inexpensive 2x pistol scope and it does just fine.
