N/A First PCP - FX Impact M4 or Skout EVO?

I am new to the airgun world and I am looking into benchrest and then possibly PMC/PRS. I am pulling my hair out trying to decide on a proper gun. I keep going back and forth between the FX Impact M4 and the Skout Evo. Adding in more complexity is caliber..... From what I have seen looking at NAC and RMAC, .30 cal is the popular choice, but I have also seen good results with .22. I seek the wisdom and advice of those with MUCH more experience that I have to your recommendations. I am not going to be using this for hunting, just target/competition.

The Skout Evo is about 11.4lb without the scope, vs M4 at around 6.8lb, if you want a bench gun I think there are better options out there, like the Panthera that someone else suggested.

I’m 80 an
MY take of both, I hear nothing but moans about FX it seems their failure rate is pretty high, and the Scout seems to have some of the best support and customer service going and this is in the UK, so IMO FX is for people who like to continually fiddle with their guns and have to buy add-ons to make them shoot well and Scout are for people who just want to shoot.
I’m 80, and bought my first PCP - Impact M3 .22 ca. sniper.
I sent it to Allan Z to set up the scope and do his magical ballistic tune. After 20,000 JSB’s being shot, it’s still spot on. No tweaking or farting around. Just load and shoot! Ground squirrels haven’t a chance.

Out west the Ground squirrels can carry bubonic plague ... so we leave em lay where shot and NEVER handle or collect carcasses.

Great haul and shooting  tho

Both rifles are excellent platforms for shooting
My choice has been with Skout
Love the system and how they are evolving.
They are not light.
They are very accurate
Can change calibers and barrels in minutes
The after market barrels--Submoa - LW Bull barrel --are performers for even tighter percission
Very simple to tune
Has a 1st shoot compensation to prevent a drop from a cold shot ..doesn't need to warm-up
The best staff at their customer service that help you until the problem is solved. The Owner and chief tech will get involved to solve the problem.
Evo would be my choice

Once again I have to stress it's NOT the manufacturer, it's the particular PLATFORMS that are causing problems for people. Especially for new & relatively uninitiated people. The Royale/Boss platform is the epitome of the out-of-the-box fantastic shooter! Classic styling, consistent, durable, rugged, reliable, low maintenance, high accuracy, quiet! People fall prey to the MARKETING of the complicated, finicky & frustrating newer platforms & overlook what most of us are looking for, ACCURACY & CONSISTENCY of ACCURACY!!! Most who own the newer platform express their frustration with the COMPANY but, again, it's the chosen platform that's causing their FRUSTRATION!!! How many COMPLAINTS can you find here about the Royale? One of, if not THE best pellet shooters ever made!

My plan was to shoot only JSB 18.3’s which AZ set up for me - no slugs or barrel mods. My only interest in the few years I have left is to eliminate as many destructive vermin as possible and my set up is perfect for that.

Truth is most quality airguns are accurate enough.I would always take .22 ,I like Daystate or Brocock....If not for you get the USA made one,.I always have in the back of oy mind ,resell value, parts and tuning. look what others are using and ask to try those rifles out ,most Airgunners love to help and will let you try their air rifles out. RAW is great also.

I suffer with essential hand tremors and the FX was comfortable for me. I didn’t have an opportunity to try many others out and just made up my mind quickly. Otherwise, it can drive you nuts as there are SO MANY choices.

Thank you.
After buying the Vulcan 3 from Tony at Talon Tunes, you just need to insert pellets or slugs at the magazine tomget the perfection in accuracy.

If you are willing to play all day long with the settings of the rifle until it gets out of order and you need medical assistance and yoga meditation to recover your mood equilibrium, then some FX rifles can be the ticket.

Seeing what other use is something that I have been attention to. I tend to get caught up in all of aftermarket stuff out there. Sometimes it’s too much. Lol
Getting caught up in after market rails and rests and all the available goods is ok for some but not for me. I spent my money on a compressor and a tripod and a truckload of ammo! That’s it.

I totally agree!

Some shooters just can’t leave the settings alone and spend more time tinkering than shooting!
