First PCP package proposal: Sortie Tact + Pump

Hatsan Sortie is one pistol I cannot recommend at all. Had one and nothing but jams and issues. Some people have reported getting them operating sorta okay but never great.

Don't get mixed up in semi-auto and airguns unless you are ready to drop some coin. You really need to be near the $1000 range before you will see reliable semi auto. There is the Evanix Viper on the lower end - it is at least better than the Sortie - but it runs smooth for the most part. Next you are in Huben GK1 territory - this is really the semi auto pistol you want. LOTS of power on tap if desired or lower power and high shot count.

I get it - the money isn't there at the moment for the above, but I highly recommend you take pause on semi and do not get the Sortie. It will leave a sour taste in your mouth for the whole hobby and you'll be pissed you spent limited funs on a turd.

Go browse Pyramyd Air - their pistol selection I believe will cater best to you budget.

The Notos is a pistol which I think is a good beginner PCP. It is multi shot and pumpable.
Or get a Beeman P17. Used to be $33 - price has gone up to $46. One of the best cheap little pistols you'll ever shoot.
The Crossman 2240 XL is a fun CO2 pistol.
The Webley Nemesis is acutually a good CO2 pistol for around $120
The Reximex pistols are a good step up to the $4-500 range.

Just stay away from Hatsan. Their quality is pretty low and their qc is lower.

CT shooter, I wasn’t able to PM you.. is your TMPR still available?

If you want a good semi-auto pellet pistol without breaking the bank consider a Crosman 600. They're a .22 CO2 pistol, a true semi-auto and they were built to a much higher quality standard than the Crosmans of today. They haven't been made for about 50 years now, but they aren't hard to find at all and at any given time there are half a dozen for sale on eBay for around $250. Power is adequate for rats and rabbits at close range, but that's about it. People used to modify them for power with longer barrels and bulk feeds, but you don't see much of that anymore.

I would say Notos for sure. It's super quiet out the box. It's also accurate and in my opinion the best bang for the buck. If you're set on pistol, I haven't tried the Notos in pistol form, and I own 2. I also have a Velox, I'm not very impressed and they're loud. It's my only Hatsan gun. Even with a moderator on the Velox, the Notos is far quieter. I fell in love with it in the stock comact carbine form of the Notos.

Notos is also very hand pump friendly. Haven't tried the fiber optics attachment sights, so can't comment on those. I have a Bug Buster on my Notos, but may be changing that out for one of my red dots instead

So, tell us your specific experience with the Sortie Tact. Given what you wrote you must have extensive experience with Hatsan products and can detail the quality and QC issues.

I put 6 magazines of pellets through my Sortie Tact yesterday and never had any issue. Other than the smallish air tube it is a great gun for the price.

So, I'd like to read about your experience with the Sortie.

And why Pyramyd? They are overpriced when compared to Krale, Huma Air and Balistas.

Matter of fact... the NOTOS will the my gun of choice for shooting today.
Mine likes my cast 20 and 24gr RF pellets and that's a plus for me.
Weather was so nice yesterday I changed the 12x18 targets twice.

Several of my guns got extended workouts.
Maybe 1000 rounds

Duk IL Arms AR6 Pistol
Hatsan Sortie Tact
Hatsan Barrage
AF Talon
AEA Terminator
Hartley Tiger Ten
AV Avenger
Evanix Sniper X2
Niksan Escalade

Just came in from the first round (full fill) with the NOTOS. I took it out of it's case where it has been for a couple months (?) and it shot just like the day I put it in there. This gun impresses me more and more every time I shoot it. I can't begin to fathom guns costing 3 times what this one does possibly shooting 3 times as good. You folks must be in airgun heaven.
Or maybe it's just what I deem as "good".

Yeah, Notos, Zelos/M60b, Throne 2, Ozark, Gauntlet...

Several guns under $700 that just plain work. Throne 2 may be the star of that group just due to its adjustments.

I don't get the need to spend 3x the cost for a minimal improvement in accuracy. Unless you are a competitive shooter it is just bragging rights.

LOL... I can get a NOTOS, a YH compressor w/extended warranty and a boatload of pellets for $700.
