Hi all. New to the forums. Dug my vintage (late 80s) Crossman powermaster 66 pumper out of the closet for my son. Had lots of fun with it so I invited a friend over who had a few more (co2 m14 clone, Gamo Whisper Silent Cat, and a full auto pistol). Had so much fun with the Gamo, needed to buy something for myself and since my birthday is this coming week, I ran out and got the crosman diamondback NPS at Cabelas (only a Gamo swarm available locally, and i'm worried about the whole magazine thing and really would rather wait to get a single shot Gamo Whisper when I have time to order and wait for it). Cabelas has the diamondback for about $119.
So far, I do like the crosman diamondback. it's not the gamo whisper, but for some $50 less and available same day it's a fun first break barrel. Shot probably 200 pellets out of it between the wife, son, and I. It's accurate enough at my backyard plinking range that's only like 10-15 yards and I'm happy with it. even the stock scope hasn't failed yet (i'm prepared to buy another one when it does)
my only major issue with it is the butt plate is hard as a rock. the gamo was nice and soft. I don't mind the bit of a kick the sidewinder has, but i do want to look at putting a softer pad on it. google just wants to show me places where the whole rifle is sold, but not parts. any thoughts on where to find a softer pad?
