FX First time shooter/buyer advice needed

Hey gents,

so looking to get in the PCP shooting community and wanting to get into precision shooting and maybe even try a few comps down the road. With that said been trying to do my research and trying to decided on 3 things for a good target/precision gun that i can shoot at least 100yard bench and out from there

1. What gun, I know their are a lot but was leaning towards the FX brand and something like the M4 or DRS pro
2. What is the best caliber for the above mentioned use
3. Scope. I mean i know their are a lot but i would like to keep the scope under 2k

thanks in advance for the help

not sure id jump waist deep in with either of those for something new to you...i started with an mrod .25 and a bullmaster .22, 3rd gun was an fx wildat in .30 and latest is an airforce in .35. imo .30 is the mid ground for anything u want to do. but then again, im pretty new myself still. i plink with buddies out to 100 with the .25 and my .30. my .35 i might go deer hunt with, still undecided on that since im a bowhunter. scope is in preference to you, i have a 2k ziess on my wildcat, but i have a 200$ sig on my 357 lol 🤷‍♂️

If the OP can afford starting at the top he could skip a lot of the buying /selling ladder the rest of us have used. Considering the loss on every gun on the way up he could save some money.

thanks guys yeah i am very aware of the fact that i will enjoy it as i love target shooting and have been into archery for a long time and can shoot out to about 150 yards on my property so it is nice to have the ability to shoot these while still at home…. With that said i am an advocate of buy nice the first time and wont have to sell and rebuy later….

As for caliber seems like a lot of the guys are shooting .22 but i could be wrong

Do you have any pellet guns ? I would suggest a Daystate Huntsman ( a great general use gun ) in .22 , it will accomplish what you have mentioned and it is not a complicated gun . All the things you need to learn to be successful about PCP's you can learn with this gun .
This is a top tier gun and if you hunt ,you will love it .
Just my opinion . ( if i had it to do all over )

You are on the right track buying top quality, particularly if you have the means, and more importantly the land to shoot on. At your starting price point you have great options. I like the .22 for what I do with my pellet rifles. The FX M4 is a multi caliber capable PCP, so you’re cover if you decide to change calibers. At your starting price point, you have nice options. Don’t overlook the BRK Ghost… Looking forward to reading more about your future PCP journey…
