First Timer, Need an Air Gun

Hey Guys,

I just came across this site. 


I need an air gun to take down some squirrels at my house. I have a 1 pump now but I need a CO2 riffle I think. 


Can you guys point me in the right direction? I have a budget of $200.00-$400.00. I’ve been looking at the Sig MCX but the reviews are now great

I'll give my standard response for my pick for a someone new to this hobby. Bye a Xisico XS25 tuned by Mike. You will get a great rifle that will last for years. And so smooth and sweet for a great price. Even if you get one non tuned. Mike will not sell you a rifle that has not been inspected and fired. If your looking for a Magnum look at his XS28M it is available in .25 also. All the guys here will be telling you to buy a English or German rifle for much more. Get one tuned and use the money you save for good optics you can't go wrong with on one of the Xsisco rifles from Flying Dragon.

I started out on Crosman/Benjamin airguns so I tend to recommend those. With your price range a benj discovery might work.

As already mentioned flying dragon guns get good reviews. There was on here on classified that had his full time for 200 shipped

400 almost puts you at enough to look at krales website for an HW

or buy a Benjamin fortitude $300 (its regulated) and a PCP hand pump for $40-$100. You will be hitting eyeballs at 50 yards.

The only CO2 gun worth buying is the Hammerli 850 Magnum. No other CO2 gun will shoot past 15 yards. The 850 Magnum is German. I shot a nickel size group at 50 yards in this video

Nothing wrong with spring guns but the powerful ones are a bit violent when you pull the trigger so it is hard for many to shoot them well. PCP guns have a much gentler shot cycle so are easier to shoot well. I shoot both but I expect and receive much better accuracy from my PCP guns than my springers. 

For your budget you can pic up a Benjamin Maximus single shot or a Fortitude repeater. Then pick up a cheap Chinese hand pump and smallish filter.

If you want a simple co2 rifle, the Sheridan 2260 made by Crosman would be a good choice. I have culled pigeons with one and with wad cutter pellets, head shots at 25 yards was doable. The good thing about Crosman is parts a cheap and readily available. I have much more expensive and powerful guns, but the little 2260 was my choice for shooting in a huge barn. My .02 worth. Good on your choice, whatever you choose.

This would be my choice. Every friend I have that needs a great gun but, doesn’t want to Dive off the deep end, has one. I usually get them for around $100, put a few hours in replacing o rings and haven’t had one fail since. PM me if you want more info.
