Air Arms Fitting a new firing valve in an HFT-500

I had a leak in my HFT500 and found air coming from the barrel and transfer port. The firing valve was not holding air. I cleaned it up and used some polish to seal it up and that worked. But I ordered a new valve and seat for it. After fitting the new parts it leaks worse than ever. Is there something that needs to be done to get the valve to seal?

Long story short I replaced the valve with a FAC high power valve and it is all working properly except it is still down just a couple feet per second . It is like 860 fps rather than the original 880. FPS with 10.3 gr pellets. I am OK with that but I believe if I use the regular 12 ft lb valve like it had originally it should be fine. The valve will be here soon and we will see. While discussing this with the HFT-500 group on Facebook some old fella had to warn of the risk I face with suck a power cannon .

“Eric if you continue to use the gun at that power level , you are breaking the law and will be heavily fined and the gun taken from you . You do not need this amount of power.”

I just think it’s sadthat 5 ft lb of power added to a BB gun is worth arresting fining and confiscating property.
