So I have a couple bulldogs and have always had problems with the brass threaded inserts in the stock, stripping or just breaking apart in the holes. Came up with a fix no spinning pulling out or breaking. The inserts are aluminum flared flutes to prevent pulling out, and a knurled collar to prevent rotation, a rim on the top to prevent driving them to deep, they are threaded to 6-32 which is the bulldog stock screw thread. Made a simple install tool to put them in.
1. Removed old and broken brass inserts.
2. Drilled out the stock plastic holes with a #3 gauge drill bit with a 35 degree face to a depth of .374 no further so you dont drill thru the stock.
2b. (For the short hole in front of trigger Drill this hole .187 deep, cut off the knurled upper portion of the insert use the threaded bottom half in this hole it will remain tight.)
3. Screw insert onto tool and use a rubber mallet to tap the insert into place until the upper rim seated.
4. Assemble stock as normal using the stock bulldog screws.
