FLORIDA AIR GUNNERS AND FOLKS

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. It's coming in about 75-100 miles south of me and will pass just east by 50-75 miles. Almost the same path as Charley. The weather man this AM said the hurricane and tropical storm winds will reach out 3X farther than Charley. They are predicting 70mph winds here starting around 6PM and 100mph winds near 11pm then back down to around 70mph by 3AM. We never saw winds over about 60mph gust in Charley and lost power for 2 weeks. It's also slower moving they are predicting rainfall up to 20 inches in Polk county.

im here at about cedar key hoping it doesnt drift north .. it pretty soggy out there but wind is about 10 15 atm, normal fl weather .. so far .. power getting knocked out for extended period is the worst concern, most rural areas have wells and rely on electric for water .. already been through that scenario 3 times in fl, once for almost 2 weeks, not a comfortable prospect, have a gen, but even then, figure at minimum 10 gals of gas a day to keep things running, think you got enough for 2 weeks? lol gas stations dont work either without power ..

When Charley came through the phosphate mine I worked at was shut down for 2 weeks due to high water. We took all of the cranes, and crane trucks and the mechanics and volunteers from the mine and cut 79 trees out of peoples roofs so they could get tarps over their homes. I was surprised to see 3 tractor trailer rigs out of east Texas doing volunteer work the whole time as well. They had equipment in one, the second was set up as a kitchen capable of cooking 800 meals a day, and the third was set up as a laundry. Great crew of men and women. Natural disasters can bring out the best in folks.

I took a pek at some live footage on youtube not long ago, did not look too bad ATM, but you never know with these things i am told ( not something we see in Denmark )
Or that is the remnants of Hurricanes actually end up way over here some times, but then it is worst just a little windy.

It warm my heart when people do good for other unfortunate people, i so dislike the danish way where in principle it is the gooberment that are supposed to take care of things,,,, and pretty much always fail, and people are still OK with that.
I am not much for handing money over to strangers, but i will work my back to threads for nice folks.

Here is an update from Fort Myers. Crazy

Good luck folks. Stay safe and indoors. Don’t go out in this crap unless its absolutely necessary, like life and death necessary. Been through hurricanes myself, but nothing this strong! Even those weaker ones were no joke, and the only people I knew who got hurt went outside.

Not sure MY prayers will help, but for what its worth, I’m saying them!
