Florida Iguanas where is the Location point large population vs low population

Trying to get information from others where the location for iguanas population grows.
@Treks you where 100% right in previous post about not as many iguanas out here. For instance I just spent several hours driving around FortMyers and Naples looking for Iguanas called several places sportsman wearhouse etc no one could help.
I did not see one Iguana!!!
I even went to picayune strand and nothing. I know there are plenty of them in Miami Palm beach etc.
***My question is where is the closet location to me in fort myers*
Thank you

Not sure what you consider close, but you're gonna have to go to the east coast.

@JaceSpace1369 , I read up on the iguana issue and I think I understand the issues. I suspect that if every snowbird in the Midwest traveling to Florida had a pellet gun with them and shot 10 iguanas during their visit it wouldn't put much of a dent in the population. It would more likely put out a lot of windows, etc. I expect shooting iguanas as a population control measure with airguns is about as effective as shooting starlings.

Doing hunts is a very portion of it. Shooting iguanas, the way we are, is currently the cheapest way for the state to deal with it. Only certain counties are paying to hire our companies to do the removal of iguanas. We shoot them, trap them and snare them. We apply each of those methods when suited. At night you can go with a flashlight and grab as many as you can see being kit up as they are diurnal and sleep at night in the bushes or trees.

Even so, this is not a problem that is going to go away, but it's a problem that we can, at the very least, try to maintain. Keeping the numbers at bay works in communities, not so much around canals as they stretch for far too many miles.

Hi guys, I am new to forums in general, nee to air guns. Please guide me to proper place to get my questions answered properly.

I live in Hollywood FL and I have a gnarly iguana issue like most. I have been living at this property since 2019. When I first moved here I bought some pump single shot pellet rifle and it's definitely not good enough for what i need.

I have both green iguanas and the darker more aggressive ones that live in underground holes.

I was looking at the Notos due to price, research, size, weight etc.

I would appreciate any advice on which semi auto PCP rifle or gun I should get.

You don't need semi-auto, also inherently semi-auto is less accurate than the single shot, magazine guns. You don't need a ton of power but you do need lot of accuracy. The notos isn't a bad platform but you need to be precise with your shots. What's your budget looking like? Sounds like you have both green iguanas and Mexican spiny tailed iguanas.
@JaceSpace1369 , Fascinating that it has become such a huge issue and so has grown an industry around managing it. Kind of like feral hogs, but possibly worse and the pythons always make the newspapers. Good luck to you.
Yeah it's rather crazy how it's exploded even in the last couple of years, both in iguana population and iguana company saturation. Thank you!

From fort Myers, palm beach county.

Jase, thanks for the reply, sounds like you are very familiar with these iguanas and correct me if I'm wrong. I truly believe that they are, especially the spiny mexican, digging under my property and possibly cause foundation and shifting issues. Here in Hollywood our ground isn't dirt or coral like parts of Miami, Hollywood and particular my area is soft sand. My house is concrete foundation and block built, but in my opinion I feeli like they can and are doing damage.

I have experience with firearms but not Air guns. When I first bought this place in 2019 I purchased a crossman Diamondback Elite. Very inexpensive, inaccurate, single pump rifle. I feel that when I shoot the iguanas with this rifle it isn't the most accurate so I don't necessarily get the killshot and the iguanas get startled and run away injured, making it inhumane and doesn't give me enough time to reload and pump. That's the reason I started to look into the magazine fed PCP.

All of this being said. If I could get a PCP with an electric compressor, some pellets, and the rifle itself, I would like to be $450 to $700 range. I would like to make sure I have everything necessary for accuracy, easy fill, backyard-residential friendly, and some fun while I'm at it, for that budget. Please let me know what optics you would recommend as well. Not sure if it matters much with air guns, but I am a lefty so all of my AR style Firearms are lefty oriented.

Any recommendations and advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are too many airguns that are truly left hand friendly unless you go up in price. But these are decent options for lower budget yet still great shooting under 50yds

Xm1 bullshark .25
Jts Airacuda .22/.25
Stoeger XM1 ranger .22/.25
Zelos .22/25
Notos

For scopes

Westhunter scope g2 not gen 1 4-16, 6-24
Vector veyron line of scopes 3-12, 4-16, 6-24

For air source, I couldn't really recommend you any cheap compressors. As I have not used any of them, but vevor makes a nice handpump and all these guns are *handpump* friendly.

Thank you for all the advice I will look at all of the recommendations. Did you list them in order of your preference?
