I figured there aren't enough Maverick threads, so let's start another one!
If a good shooting Impact showed up on the Classifieds for $1700, would you buy it or spring for a new Maverick? The pros and cons of each as I see them are:
Impact:
Pros:
Cons:
Maverick:
Pros:
Cons:
The above is far from a comprehensive list so please feel free to add your own. As the owner of two great shooting Impacts right now, I'm not compelled to replace either one of them with a Maverick. That's not to say that if a deal popped up in the Classifieds that I wouldn't pick it up just out of curiosity.
So if it was your $1700, what would you do and why?
[Edit: for the sake of this thread, please just stick to either the Maverick or Impact - I know there are plenty of other options that might be a better alternative for your specific taste . . . but that's not what this thread is about.]
If a good shooting Impact showed up on the Classifieds for $1700, would you buy it or spring for a new Maverick? The pros and cons of each as I see them are:
Impact:
Pros:
- More proven platform - been around for awhile now, we generally know whatever issues it has by now
- Ability to adjust the valve
- High capacity magazine
- More lefty friendly magazine placement
- Better safety placement
- Better(?) gauges
- Better looking (IMO)
Cons:
- More expensive
Maverick:
Pros:
- Dual regulators
- Bigger plenum
- Higher shot count?
- Less expensive
- Newer, shinier
Cons:
- As yet unproven platform
- Smaller capacity magazine; worse placement for lefties
- Poor safety location
- Uglier
