For $1700, which would you buy: Impact or Maverick?

I have been kicking around the idea of purchasing a FX Maverick or Impact. I am not a fan of buying any item in the first year of production. But because of the platform of the Maverick is similar to two established models, I may make an exception in this case. I really appreciate the input from members of Airgun Nation on this topic or for that matter any topic. Thanks.

NEITHER .... Buy a TAIPAN Veteran and nice scope for it .... DONE

You're not playing the game correctly ;)

There are a bazillion other alternatives and just as many opinions as to why any one of them would be better than either the Impact or Maverick. This thread is specifically addressing the two options and why one would buy one versus the other.

...can you just say neither and not mention any other guns...???... 💩

I could .. but if you were NOT on a public forum where conversations are the name of the game ... most of us would go away leaving all the FX fanboys to play alone in the sandbox.

No fun in that and no harm done by speaking ones mind and voicing alternate opinion.

What about the trigger? I haven’t shot an Impact or a maverick but the trigger on Impact has to be slightly better no? That’s not as easily mended and may be worth the price difference for me to get the impact.

I apologize for perhaps misdirecting this thing, but the triggers in question (with the rest of the rifle), are seriously lacking when compared to the Veteran. With that, I will leave it to the FX fans to decide on the preference between these 2 offerings. When FX decides to do its R&D before releasing products on their customers, I might consider them. Nothing since the Royale/Boss platform for me.

Oh boy, here we go . . . it never fails.

There are all sorts of people on this forum with all sorts of backgrounds and opinions. Myself, I'm a fan of whichever manufacturer delivers a rifle that checks the most boxes between performance, innovation, build quality and aesthetics. In many years, that's Edgun. In others, it's been FX, AGT and Daystate. Hell, there were a couple of years where the Colibri was my all time favorite - but I haven't touched another Kalibrgun ever since because they appeared to be very happy with themselves for rolling out the Cricket and basically stopped innovating for some time until just recently. Now, from the looks of the Delta Wolf (unless it somehow bombs in realworld use) Daystate will be back in the mix for me in the near future. So whichever brand makes the gun(s) the appeal most to me, gets my money - but it's never been the same, single manufacturer year after year.

That said, this particular thread is asking about two specific FX models - that's it. If you don't like either one of them, move on. The question asked here is which of these two would you buy - if you wouldn't buy either, just move on. The question isn't name every other gun you would be instead of these two - although I may start another thread asking that exact question to filter out those responses. Otherwise, if you want to speak your mind about any other brand or model, there are endless other threads to do so - or you could create your own . . . you have every right to do so and no one would stop you.

I swear I don't know what's worse - the truly blind and over zealous fan boys or the folks that love to painted everyone else as fan boys every chance they get.

It's all about arrogance, how dare you try to decide between two models of one brand. You must be stupid, let others decide what you want. They know your wants/needs better than you do.

Which is EXACTLY what will become of this thread .... FX fanboys only need respond.

I'm done and never should have typed a thing. I'm sorry to have invaded your FX ONLY thread.

Lol, look at the title of the thread and decide for yourself. Keep pointing that morally superior finger at others.

Seriously...

When I want to decide on whether to plunk down $3k for the Delta Wolf, I'll make a thread asking for the pros and cons of that rifle. Will that make me a Daystate fan boy at that time? And will you join that thread to tell me to buy a Taipan then too because only the truly enlightened people have figured out that the Taipan Veteran is clearly and obviously better than everything else and is the only rifle that is perfect for every member of this forum? If you read my previous posts in this thread alone, you'd see that I'd already gone through 4-5 Taipan Veterans and, while they were nice, they weren't close to being the perfect gun for me. So I moved on in search of the next shiny object that might check more boxes.

There are so many other threads and so many other sub-forums where you can espouse your love and knowledge of the venerable Taipan and people will eat it up . . . there's no real good reason to go into an FX specific thread and do that other than to troll and stir up crap.

Yen, this is actually a great tread. Thanks for thinking about starting a comparison of the two, in that price range.

i look at the maverick as a good intro to someone wanting to take the next step, into a more complex platform; one who has just gotten involved with tinkering and self tuning and wants to take that next step, but without breaking the bank.

To outright buy an impact and not do a single thing to it to realize its potentials, to me, is just shorting yourself from realizing what you actually have in your hands. The impact is an engineering marvel of a gun, as we all know. To fully realize it’s potential, you must be willing to spend countless hours testing as folks like STOTI, Chuck, Edosan, and Heavy Impact have done. I can only imagine how many times they had their guns apart.

But, if that all seems too much for someone, and all you want to do is shoot the darn thing but have a few tinker adjustments to call it your “own tune”, then that’s where the Maverick falls under.

My opinion only, of course.

As far as which would I own if I had neither, and had the chance to own an MK2 Impact with a PP? Of course the impact, but, I do plan to get the Maverick in about 4 months or less, as it’s another platform I want to learn.

Hey Augie, you sound so surprised that I created a semi-coherent thread??? ;)

Was your mission this weekend successful?

I'm not a trigger snob but I haven't found either trigger bad, I like them both even thought they feel a little different. Think I like Impact's first stage better and the Maverick breaks a little better but I haven't really tinker too much with the triggers because I like how they are out of box.

The OP asked about two guns in specific. I am not sure why that is so difficult to comprehend.

To further my answer to why I stated an Impact previously. It is a tried and true platform with lots of support and videos under its belt. The Maverick is not, and typically the Maverick MKII will be much improved, just like what the Impact went through already with its MKII revisions.

Now that right there is funny as hell .... No finger pointing what so ever.

All you FX defenders should view such a coin phrase as "Fan boy" as a badge of honor !! Yet for some reason read it as an insult ? Certainly not a phrase i came up with.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with supporting a manufacturer who's Marketing had made you purchase there product ... if you did, they did there job WELL. If they get you to use said product and then REPLACE it again in a few years when your liking the newest offering better they have done REALLY well and will repeat repeat as the years go along.

Defensive posture such as calling sarcastically someone pointing their morally superior finger etc ... is pretty immature IMO.

We're all STUCK at home and feel frustrated unable to live our lives being social, so we sit at out computers doing stupid activities .. this is a hard cold fact.

There has been nothing in my postings that is a Trolling for conflict .... Sharing thoughts without hearing the spoken word and it's texture of civil banter gets easily lost ... such is the case of this thread and my unwelcome nonconstructive comments first made.

I'm sorry and done with this thread and further FX subject matter.

Listen to yourself responding to the OP. Now you're saying that FX Fanboy is a positive term right? My BS meter is off the scale there Scott. Yennie was more than pleasant after your first arrogant post in this thread. Do you think the OP is an idiot that just happened to narrow his choice down to two guns by accident?

Now you're suggesting you're going to take your ball and go home and we all would be so sad. (actual immaturity)

FX fans take more poop on this forum than anyone and you know this.

No sarcasm or denigration here right? All sunshine and roses and my interpretation of it is "defensive", well when I get attacked I defend myself maybe you just roll over and take it.

Maybe you should EDUCATE YOURSELF (Motorhead style typing)

Fanboy;

An excessively loyal fan of a product and/or its company who blindly supports the every action of said product/company without question or reasoning.

Does that sound condescending in any way? Truth is, yes … it is very condescending. Herein lies the problem. “Fanboy,” as an insult, is often an unfair and out-of-context accusation. More often than not, it is used in arguments between two or more people as a way to disregard a person’s point of view. To many, casting someone off as a fanboy is far easier than attempting to understand an opposing viewpoint.

You won't quit but you will backpedal like I rarely see, keep it up Scott. Now you've attacked and attacked (but deny you're attacking) and you're getting called out on it. Hmm don't seem to like it much do ya?

What if we like the guns because they're accurate and we simply have no urge to shoot anything else at the current time, is that ok with you sir? Can we discuss guns we want without being told what we really should be buying?

Get over yourself, no one is impressed.

Feel free to come back I got more for ya bud, and as far as the STUCK at home? Speak for yourself I'm working till midnight these days in the biggest hospital in our Province.
