For a quiet AR style stock...

For anyone that has a gun that uses an AR (rifle) style stock, and wishes for something nicer and that doesn't rattle, read on. Seems like there is a few different guns out there.

I bought a couple of stocks to see what I'd replace the rattley, Magpul stock on my new American Air Arms, EVOL 15" rifle.
I really don't like the Magpul stock at all. I found a nice wood stock that wasn't too bad in cost, this, Odin Works, Zulu 2.0 stock.

It's very solid, highly adjustable for length, and also butt pad height, and rotation. The buffer tube has a nice foam cheek pad that's comfortable. Very easy to install. Has a (double) location for a strap at the back of the receiver. Should hold up well to any field abuse.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it for those that might be interested.

I thought you just picked up an Evol Mini 22? The Evol with 15" barrel is their Standard version or Magnon in .30cal. Unless you picked up another Evol? Nice stock but I'm not sure about the cheekweld.

I got the Mini, .22 (don't think they make a 22 version) version.
That's fine you can think what you like.
Much of the EVOL (all capital letters !) line uses the AR stock (not all !)

As far as the cheekweld...if you look...it's...adjustable from the shoulder to the cheek ! That's one of the good thinks about this stock...right ? The foam is at the same height as ALL other AR stocks that don't have a riser.

I'll have to pay closer attention next time to the discount prices.

Yeah, funny. Your bargain basement workaround isn't something I normally do (except possibly in a life or death situation)! But you're welcome to follow your dreams.

EVOL, Evol.....Whatever. You seriously need to take your meds and chill Mike. Not everyone here is out to attack you. Also, if you have the 15" barrel like you mentioned above, it's not the Mini...or EVOL Mini .22 if you want to be more specific and such a smart-a** about it. I'm just going off the thread that you started earlier....

Looks like the EVOL Mini .22 (I hope I got that right) comes with Magpul's entry level MOE stock. Their CTR stock is $65 retail and looks and functions the same as the MOE but also has a friction lock that eliminates the loose fit on the buffer tube. I've had one on my AR for a long time, and wouldn't hesitate to upgrade from the MOE on a gun this nice.

Here's a cheaper solution I picked up in airsoft. Take three strips of black electrical tape about 4-5" long. Place them lengthwise on the buffer tube approx 120 degrees apart. If too tight, just use two strips. Voila no more rattley stock for about $0.10.
Thank you for sharing this little tidbit of wisdom with us! I tried it this morning and it really quiets a rattling stock. I'll have to say that I was very surprised at how much rattle noise the OEM Magpul stock made on the AAA EVOL Mini.

I also bought one of the stocks which MikeVV referenced in the initial post. It looks to be a robust and highly adjustable stock to me. And it looks good to my eye as well. I ended up picking mine up at Joebob Outfitters - they had the black ones in stock at a small discount from MSRP, with free shipping and no sales tax. Now I will have 2 good options for the gun. Thanks again MikeVV for sharing your recommendation on this stock.

TMH sir, how short, being retractable in 2 sections, can you get this stock to?

Thank you.
