I've been wanting to lighten up my field target rig so I've been setting up a chassis stock for the RAW. Although the wood stock feels super comfortable, it's pretty heavy. I find myself struggling with the offhand shots because of the weight. The chassis stock lightened the rifle by nearly a pound, in addition to having the weight more rearward. The only thing I don't like about the chassis stock is that it's not comfortable to shoot offhand, which is the main reason I wanted to lighten up the rifle in the first place. I tried making some different forearms that I could use as a resting point for the bipod and provide a nice wide handhold that adds a bit of height.
Although they served the purpose, they just added more weight than I wanted. I decided to let go of the bipod rest point and just provide a handhold.
This is very light, provides a nice handhold, and also provides a stop for the bipod. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
