Fortitude gen2 with Iron Sights or Equivalent

I have been shooting my Fortitude Gen2, .22 cal, with a Optima 3-9x40 AO Scope, and I had switched to a UTG 3-12-x32 Bugbuster with Side Wheel AO, Scope, while I like this gun scoped. I wanted to shoot this gun open sights, since none are available. I had a couple of Bushnell TRS-25 red dots, One on a DPMS SBR, and one with no home, until I added it to the Fortitude, to see how light weight I can keep the gun, but wanted to see how accurate it can be at 25 yards, and will see what happens at 50 yards I have removed all the sloppy movement out of the barrel to barrel-band as it has zero movement now. Well to mount the Bushnell TRS-25 I had to get an adaptor to mount it to the Fortitude's 11mm dove tail. This is a Lightweight and Compact setup. About the time I get this mounted the wind kicks up, and has Not yet stopped. I took a few shots but it is just too windy. I will have to see, if I can test it tomorrow.

Has anyone else tested any type of sight, other than a scope on the Fortitude, what were your results?

I got a vortex viper red dot. I se the utg weaver to pic adapter to mount sometimes. It was mounted in order:ataman M2r, weihrauch hw45, weihrauch hw44, leyla 2.0. My thoughts are this, red dot, best used for fast target acquisition, both eyes open. Once you get used to it, point and shoot. No parallax, no mag, nothing to set up, just turn on and shoot. Cons: no magnification. Only your peepers. So for me you will never be as accurate past short range with a red dot. So it went back on the hw45. I put scopes on all my rifles and even the hw44 pistol has a scope. But it was very satisfying hunting with a hw44 and a red dot. Past 20 yds and it was a gamble on where exactly it lands. I have a gen 2 fortitude and I was happy using a hawke 3-9.

Irons are very hard on my eyes theses days. The shrouded barrel will make it a PITA for that front sight mounting. I have seen some hokey rail mounted iron sights for Mrods on ebay. I didn't pay much attention to it, but you might want to give it a look.

I picked up a used SeeAll sight some time ago. SeeAll It would need a dove-tail to pic adapter for the Fortitude. I have only used it on pistols, but people do use them on rifles and shotguns. I'm no huge fan, but it does work.

I like the Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot on the Fortitude.Very compact and light. I am 58 years old, I have been doing some health upgrades which as a side benefit help the eyes quite a bit, like a night and day difference. I no longer wear glasses, and my eye sight is Significantly Better, for distance and for reading I used to wear trifocals glasses for distance and reading. but now dont need them at all for either, night vision is also greatly improved.

Due to only having one very weak eye left, I use a UTG Reflex sight on my Seneca Carbine 25. I also have a light mounted on a 45 degree off set rail. With my 58 grain cast bullets at 85 FPE, it is a great tool for hairy things that go bump in the night. It keeps that carbine fast and light. Having shot 2 home intruders in my 7 decades, one a hungry black bear 15 feet from my sleeping toddlers I truly need such things these days to sleep at night.

I may try a Williams Peep sight either a FP-GR-TK For air guns and .22 rifles with dovetail grooved receivers and low line of sights. No drilling and tapping required. (With Target Knobs) or a FP-AG-TK Aperture sight High line of sight. I would buy a second barrel band, i would add 4 mounting screws to the barrel band for a secure mount to the rifle, and provide better barrel support, to remove all barrel movement for testing. Right now I have used tight fitting Foam, and tight fitting Velcro, to eliminate barrel movement that works fairly well, but looking for total elimination of barrel movement, to see what the Fortitude is capable of, this is contrast to Crosmans free floating design. I'll attach the new barrel band out at the end of the air resivour tube, to provide a longer Sight radius between front and rear sights and put a small diameter grub screw, with a nut epoxied to inside of barrel band that the grub screw can thead into, for a fixed front sight with the tip painted with white gun sight paint. I have a Williams Peep sight on my Benjamin 392 rifle, and Love it, I have several different aperture's for it, very good sight picture.
