Air Venturi Free floating my avenger's barrel

I've had my avenger for almost 2 ½ years now. It was my first airgun. I don't regret that purchase one bit. It's given me almost zero problems except for some self induced minor issues. Accuracy is great. Especially since I started shooting JSB. However there was always those pesky poi shifts (I think some, but not all, of that was fixed with getting a scope with ao). So just last week I tried taking off the piece that centers the barrel in the shroud to see how it shoots with the barrel free floating. I shot a few groups. It showed some promise but it was too windy. However that noodle isn't very stiff so I tried making a makeshift barrel sleeve from some PVC pipes😂. I also threaded the barrel end with a 7/16-20 and tensioned it. It just didn't group that good anymore. I tried taking the shroud off. Nope. Without the barrel tensioned. Nope. Ok scrap everything, I just left some masking tape on the barrel that I had put to fit the "sleeve". Yup. It started grouping again Except for some fliers it was grouping almost as good as my best group without modifications. I'm thinking some of those fliers maybe came from touching a small strand in the shroud cap. With the barrel free floating it comes quite a bit up and a bit left. I put the shroud back on so now it's not completely free floating because the rear shroud cap is fastened to the barrel. It was clipping the shroud cap so I made a makeshift cap with an off center hole.

The yellow groups are with the "sleeve" on and the green is with the barrel (almost) free floating. Here's some more photos of the project. I'm planning to do some more shooting soon so I'll see how this set up holds up and if the poi still shifts
